"The 100-Gbps trial connects Comcast facilities in Philadelphia and to McLean, Va., running over the operator's metro and long-haul fiber links. Comcast is using preproduction versions of Nortel Networks' 100-Gbps interface cards, running in the vendor's Optical Multiservice Edge 6500 system"
"It's running live traffic, and the 100-Gbps wavelengths in the Comcast trial are running over the same physical fiber as its existing 40-Gbps wavelengths, which are handled by Cisco Systems gear"
"It's not on some dedicated facility... It's on [the] production fiber, next to other lambdas."
"Comcast believes it's the first test of 100-Gbps wavelengths with reconfigurable optical add/drop multiplexer (ROADM) photonic components."
Well, I'm learning and it seems like "Porco Rosso" is something I would like to see. But this is surely not the Nausicaa in reference.. Give me a quick link to a synopsis of Nausicaa then...:)
I think the problem with virus and worm-attacks is a product of a shortsighted design and just plain bad programming from Microsoft. The marketing and design guys come up with brilliant solutions to everyday problems and collaboration issues, but lack the skills and time to make the products safe enough. If Linux goes to the lead in the desktop sector, I think it will be either on a "we give up on Microsoft and it's solutions" or a 'dumbing' of Linux' programs and solutions. If the latter is the case, I'll bet we'll see more and more companies going into the fight for the customers and make dumber and dumber programs just to please the customers need for eyecandy/functionality. One thing that most probably will happen is that windows-software will be merely ported to Linux and bring with them a lot of the bugs and features which leaves the system exploitable. Even though the OS is safe, it *is* possible to do a lot of damage through it. Consider a trojan listening on your open terms and just waiting for you to enter your root-password... (a lot of users don't use the 'secure' input methods). The possibility to launch files directly from mail-progs will come if the marketplace decides it want's it, and given the old habits of users, it will. So it comes down to education of users, flogging of visual basic programmers who don't knwo diddlysquat about security and a safe kit for porting the windoze apps..
OC-3 = 155Mbit/s
155 Mbit/s = 19 Mbyte/s
Now let's say you are using PoS (Packet over Sonet) and you are looking at an average 3% overhead, you will get about 18 Mbyte/s squeezed out of your OC-3.
You can't expect to be all alone on the link, and a possible delay may also occur when setting up the connection, but saying "1.5 megabyte/s - its an oc3" would be an understatement to say the least. /EssJay
According to the norwegian site digi.no (link to story in norwegian) it's just a hoax. The movies was packaged and had the appereance of the new movie. Closer inspection showed the VCD's to be the old animated version. Some detective (Spencer Mott) was quoted.
I want to test this version (see the three last pictures): http://www.ourlighterside.com/stuff/engineer/e 01657.jpg e 01751.jpg e 01844.jpg

Dammit... why oh why didn't I manage to read that the Moller car was linked... dammit... :) I was too fast on the trigger as usual... sorry..
And here's the link to the Moller Skycar... :)
In fact I also immediately thought of this one, as a local electronics-dude here in Norway has sold this concept for many many years...

Forgive my ignorance.. but what is this Nausicaa??
