Why would anyone want any mini portable music device if it doesn't play MP3s? I'll buy a MiniDisk player as soon as the media can support MP3. I'd really like to see Sony put out an MP3 Discman... They could do this so easily; Sony already has a CD-Rom Discman. Just add a few new chips and you've got yourself a CD player that will play all those CDRs that we've got.
The new Clip player thing is pretty cool though too. I would like one for working out. Tape players are so archaic. If this MP3 Discman I forsee had a USB port you could theoretically hook it up to the cigar and copy songs without a computer at all.
And don't forget it was 'the government' that developed what is now the internet... which is the reason we are ultimately allowed to have this discussion.
While I do agree with the hard core Libertarians that the gov't is stealing our money and I'm all for the shrinking of federal bureaucracies, but I don't reasonably expect the theft to stop this century. So I think we should focus our attention on spending more money on science, medicine, and defense and less on the rest. Clinton is a shotty President but he doesn't have anything to win anymore accept the love and admiration of his people, and the world. He needs to look good for the history books.. and other media forms:)
I think it might be cool to build a portable MP3 player around a 100MB ZIP disk. If it could be made small enough, it would make memory a non-issue for many users. And you wouldn't have to deal with any cables. I think i'll hold on an MP3 player for now though. Once a portable CD player can play a CDR full of files, then I'll buy that.
