    And? regardless if this person did that or not, my point still stands.

    Nothing proves my point more then the fact I got modded troll because I point out that women, as a group, get harassed regularly in the gaming community.
    I know a lot of female gamers (my daughter, my wife, all her friends, my table top friends who also play video games, etc...), and all of them had basically play a male character and use a male sounding handle just so they wouldn't get harassed.

    I do not give a damn about Zoe, and the issue surrounding he is so complex and heat filled it's pointless to discuss.

    There is a culture that makes it so women can't do things they want.
    IT's not as bad as the 60/70s but it's still there. THAT is what it is about. opportunity.

    When a girl gets put into a easier math class because she is a girl, that's a problem.
    When a women can't get a promotion in the gaming industry because 'women don't game' that's a problem.
    When a women is trying to point this out and then has her personal life dragged into the public and is threatened with rape and death, that's a fucking problem.

    And guess what? IN those situations society needs to make an effort to level the playing field.

    I heard that same damn argument you made, and most of slashdotters seem to be making, in the 60s and 70s. It didn't hold water then, and it doesn't now.

    A Scotsman fallacy is when you say a person born in Scotland doesn't count as a real Scotsman because he doesn't drink.

    To point at an American in a kilt ans saying 'he isn't a real Scotsman' is an accurate statement.

    There are people who are not feminist claiming to be feminist. Excluding them is not a Scotsman fallacy.

    If I said I was a world class golfer, and was excluded for the list of world class golfers in Golf magazine, that wouldn't be a Scotsman fallacy, what would be accurate.

    Yes, they are. There are companies pouring billions into different research so something will pan out and they can make money.
    As someone who has had an idea stolen, and implemented ti a big success, by a large financial istution I may be biased. OTOH, had I got paid I would have been able to fund my lab and quit working.

    Keep you're ire for business method patents, software patent, and people who patent things that already exist.

    I ahve heard that having an idea, patenting, and then wanting people to pay you for your idea is wrong, and no data sows it actually hurts innovation.

    Patent troll used to be someone who patented something already in use, but not patented and then demanding payment.

    Now if I invent something, but can't afford to get a working copy going within some vague period of time, suddenly I'm a patent troll, and that is bullshit.
    The industry has taken patent troll, and twisted it in order to make things harder for small inventor.
    Again.

    They aren't public servers. They don't have to be on the internet. They can do multiple authentications types.

    Most compromises occur because server need to be forward facing and used on the internet by the average consumer.
