The size of the debris field seems to indicate a mid flight explosion. So something radar guided from the ground, or fired from another aircraft seems likely. Could be on board terrorism. I would think being shot down has a higher likely hood.

Maybe the fuel exploded but that is EXTREMELY unlikely for many reasons.
