2001 was a grand vision of the future, and it may still be possible to build a HAL, just not in 1997...anyone remember George Orwells 1984? But seriously, with the current trends in technology, I would not be surprised if a real AI is created within the next 10-20 years. Does anyone realise that HAL is all 1 letter from being IBM?
