  1. Sequel Setup on Slashdot Meets X-Men · · Score: 1

I went and saw this movie on saturday and i was pretty impressed by the action sequences and the special effects. The big thing that I noticed was almost the entire movie was sort of a get to know the X-Men and were setting up for sequels. I can't wait for more X-Men movies to come out I loved the comic book and the characters were portrayed pretty accurately.

  2. The last time this happened on Solar Flare May Produce Geomagnetic Storm · · Score: 1

I remember the last time this happened it was kinda cool, all kinds of funky stuff happened to things electical in the north eastern united states and parts of canada i believe. Hopefully when it happens this time, the electical company will have some warning and be ready to go fix stuff if necessary, not like the utilites in this country could give a rats behind if you don't have air conditioning for awhile.

  3. Alternate fuels on Why Do We Still Use Gasoline? · · Score: 1

What kind of fuel costs and millage do you get with an alternate fuel. If the alternate to gasoline is 2 or 3 times the cost of gasoline and gets the same or less milage per gallon or whatever unit you measure with, people will not switch. If people switch it won't be because of the environment it will be because of a law or better value for there money.

  4. Think different on Does Water Really Have To Mean Life? · · Score: 3

people keep thinking of carbon based life forms when they think of life, and water goes right along with it. Who is to say that there can't be life based on pure enery, or a crystal of some type that has no carbon or is based of any elements we even know of. Think different, just because we don't know about it yet doesnt mean it doesnt exist.

It's nice to books of this nature come out and get good reviews. I am a huge fan of distributed.net which is a distributed application working to break crypto right now. I would love to see more distributed applications written that can be utilized in house to do big number crunches or huge image renderings. I can see lots of uses for applications of this nature in the business world where companies use lots of little boxes to do the work of a a couple big boxes.

  6. AMD should embrace the GFD's on AMD Stops Overclockers Dream Motherboard · · Score: 1

Gold Finger Devices just make sense. AMD should put a set of pins or some way to connect a GFD to its chip, but to do so make it so you have to remove a cover and then addon a circuit board that is to big to hide inside the cover of the CPU. This way you allow people to overclock there processor but you can just stick a GFD on a processor overclock it, and remark it. Since most people will notice a big chunk of pcb sticking out there processor.

  7. Number are not letters! on Cracked Series Complete · · Score: 1

Why is it that when ever you see a story on a hacker or cracker, fact or fiction they insist on using the number 3 to replace E 0 to replace O 1 to replace l 7 to replace T and so on. Do these people, be it the writers or the h\cracker think there cool or it looks neat to type like that. I found the article to be funny and quite an enjoyable read, i just wonder if anyone has any insites on this type of behavior.

  8. This makes sense to me on Unbundling Windows Declared Legal in Germany · · Score: 1

This seems to make sense to me, the OEM pays its licensing fees to M$ for whatever software, if they wanna sell it cheaper let them. M$ doesnt have to support the software if its OEM, may the retailer support it if they wanna do it this way.

  9. Its all about placement on Software Packaging And The Environment? · · Score: 1

One of the best known ways to advertise is to get people to see your product. Companies pay big dollars to get there products on the shelves at a particular height or in a particular area. Walk into a grocery store and you will not find the sweet cereals with cartoon pictures at adult eye level, but instead down closer to the floor where the children can see them and bug there parents to buy them. The same goes for software, clothes, or anything else in the store. If its big and bright and highly visible you are more likely to pick it up and look at it.
