Roblimo says that/. won't change. So why VA bought/. ??? Just for fun ? They paid big bucks for it. There must be a 'business' issue here, it's an investment for VA, nobody throws money into/dev/null. They MUST expect something in return, huh ? What that could be ?
>the Slashdot authors think that they will help >the community understand what's happening, and >what people are thinking at the moment
Yes, we at the community are so stupid, we need help from CmdrTaco & Roblimo to understand what's going on, and what to think (at the moment). Thank you, Robs !! Now my thoughts are so clear, Kurt is a cool guy, Larry is cool too, battery must be 0% by now.
Don't be naive. They are here to make money, and if they can make it using/. , they will do that. Who gives a sh*t about open source or freedom, if we're talking millions of dollars here ???
Man, you kicked Larry's ass ! The guy didn't think Starmedia staff reads (and apparently posts to) Slashdot ??? I'm wondering how is the rest of his consulting services... And what's so special about his hardware except bigger fans and thicker cables ??
Linux product on hold ? So what ? Did actually anybody use this famous "Code Warrior" ? I'd think they wouldn't put it on hold, if there was big market for it. I'm pretty happy with old plain command line and I don't know anybody actually using CW, but maybe it's just me....
It's not that hard to extend the kernel. For instance, here is how extend it by 50kB: static char our_extension[50 * 1024]; It will pretty easily distinguish its products from all other available Linux software.
