  1. Re:While this may not please some... on Windows 7 Trades Email and Photo Apps For Downloadable Ones · · Score: 1

Exactly. There are alot of comments that are from people who hate M$ not matter what they do. I use Linux and Windows Vista and like them both. They each have their places on my computers. The real issue for some with Vista is trying to run the new OS on older hardware. If you are not running a dual core CPU and at least 2 gigs of ram forget it. I run 4 gigs with a 64 bit version of Premium and I have been for 8 months. No BSODS or errors period. Alot of friends that followed this plan report the same. Alot of the reason people didn't like Vista that purchased new machines was the machines were not up to the task. It is like having a 6 year old mac and trying to run the latest OS from them. It will not be pleasant. The damage was done by the way Vista was rolled out. If someone who was opened minded and had a machine with a more modern setup would actually like it better then the old XP. Not everyone but some that are spewing hatred of it because of one bad experience. I applaud M$ for at least listening to some of their customers about taking some of the bloat out of windows and giving their customers more control of the base install. This is a major step forward for windows but only if the customer is installing the app and not buying a bloated up retail box from a brick and mortar.

  2. WTF on Students Are Always Half Right In Pittsburgh · · Score: 1

You have got to be kidding. This in no way resembles real life. If you miss an entire week of work you get paid for 50% so you don't have to work the rest of the year 100% to make up for it!!!! We all know what would happen to us in the real world. FIRED with no pay. End of story. This is nothing more then dumbing things down even more for the children in school. This policy wasn't in effect when we went to school. You had to work to pass the class. Now you can slack for 50% then work the last 10% and get a passing grade. What a joke!!!

Amen. Stop treating people like they are disposable and things like this usually never happen. That said anyone who does this should be banned from IT permanently if they are caught. I know I won't hire someone who was even accused of this let alone caught as I might be the next target. I am not a high level supervisor or anything like that but in IT at my company they treat us with alot of respect. We are the bread and butter of this business. Too bad there aren't more companies like this out there.

  4. More then DRM on Bad Signs For Blu-ray · · Score: 1

What is the real reason this is not taking off? Not all of us TV viewers have jumped to HD. So purchasing blue ray makes no sense at all. When I have to replace a TV it will be high-def but I am not going to thrown out really good tube TVs for HD. The economy also has alot to do with it. I for one could care less about DRM because if I buy the CD I can play it at home. Seeding it on torrent... no thanks. I have better things to use my bandwidth for like gaming.

  5. Not Bad on Windows 7 Beta Screenshots Leaked · · Score: 1

From someone who doesn't hate Vista this looks interesting. Until some public beta testing really begins (not the release) then the tell tale sign will begin. I use Vista 64 bit and love it. Of course I built my spec'd machine to run it. An no I am not a M$ fanboy as I also use Linux at work and home as well. Kubuntu linux is my favorite Linux desktop. I won't be in any hurry to update windows to 7. Vista now that SP1 is out and the latest updates has really run well for me. I game on it with no issues but will not jump at the next windows OS. Took me almost a year to jump to Vista and at first with the 32 bit basic edition on a single core cpu and a gig of ram hated it.

This was the best investment NASA made. They should build more of these to put on the moon and Mars to do more exploring.
