Yarr, if you wish to be a true master coder, you must become a pirate. Review as much code as you can and pirate the parts you like. If there is something you see which you don't understand, take the time to research it!
When starting you'll make things harder then they need to be. That's ok, it's just the learning process. If you realize that there is a better way of doing something, stop what you are doing and do it the right way (even if it means a bit of a rewrite).
You'll find many coders which have been coding for longer then two years, will tell you how their code is the bomb and how you should code like them. Be wary of their advice, but listen to what they say and if it makes sense to you, try it.
Don't get cocky after two years and think your code is the bomb. Always try new things and keep learning. If you do something one way and you see someone else do it a different way, always sit down and ask your self why one way is better then another.
I personally love to code and find creative ways of solving complex problems. On the other hand, I've had a couple friends that tried coding for a while and eventually realized that they didn't really like it. Try it out and see if it's a good fit for you.
