Hey, Dwayne -- That business card is pretty cool. What do all those parameters mean? (I'm still basically clueless about sec, 'cept what was in Cryptonomicon.):)
No. The problem was that the election result was within the mechanical margin of error. Usually the mechanical margin of error doesn't matter. This time the vote was so close that the signal was lost in the noise It should have been a random result--what happened in Florida makes me think otherwise.
I had the same problem with a totally no-name solution. Ok, the mainboard is "1st Mainboard EIC" or "EC" model VA-503+. 'Cept mine also sometimes wouldn't boot at all, just beep continously, and not a beep code, either.
Wanted to return it, but didn't want the hassle. Finally, on advice of vendor's tech, I removed it all from the case and plugged it all together outside the case. This made it a lot easier to swap componants. Finally isolated the problem to a sometimes bad DIMM in bank 0. Eventually, I moved it to bank 1 and plugged/unplugged it about 10 times until it was recognized at boot.
It's worked fine since, and given cost of DIMM and hassle of return, I'm fine with it, too.
Great post--puts the lie to it. I remember reading that long technical analysis of the 68000 in Byte magazine the month the 68000 came out. Anyone else remember reading that article?
Except for the post that "there's enough CO2 around to avoid fire risk", why wouldn't risk of igniting the ethanol (95%) by a spark by an issue. Alcohol fires are nasty. I've seen people permanently disfigured by others playing with Everclear in their presence.
Can someone clue me in?

Um, is there a non-Javascript workaround for that PDF-as-blank-page problem? I've recently encountered that myself for first time on Oracle website. Other PDF files seem to work fine, invoking a plugin and rendering operably.
I.e., it's not the type of question that comes with a multiple-choice answer. Viz., modern university education can't even come close to teaching it.

Um..mathematically it's 1/9th more unixy or 11% ;)
This is relevant. Good thing I didn't set moderation-level higher than "zero".
