How much of this stuff have you actually used, man?

Delphi is an excellent language, it makes programming windows easy, and it's very powerful. The component system is very elegant and intuitive. The only problem is that components execute at runtime. I hate that.

How dim witted and narrow minded to you have to be to realize that people don't want new syntax for every language they use, maybe they want to get away using an extention of a language they already know?

All the best parts of Delphi don't exist in Pascal. I use delphi as an example only because it's the only one of the above that I've used.

By your ridiculous argument, java itself is only a hack of C++, and therefore Sun=microsoft.

OMG, C++ is just a hack of C, therefore it's worthless...

OMFG C is just basically an assembly language with some macros therefore we might as well use assembly language.

HOLY SHIT... Assembly language is just macros on top of machine code..

    LET'S WRITE EVERYTHING IN THAT..

I know I'm being extreme here, but I'm merely presenting to you the logical end of your argument.

Those aren't "technically" "Windows NT" either.

I definitely agree with many of the points you made. America certainly does seem to be moving towards a corporate dystopia with a definite lack of individual ownership. As to whether that's actually bad or good, is an excersize I leave to the reader, though I'd lean towards the bad side.

This very theme has been the focus of several movies (sort of), recently... The "single serving life" offered up in Fight Club, for example, and the general boredom with life as shown in American Beauty.

There definitely seems to be a general malaise surrounding the country, a sort of optimistic pessimism (heh), Sort of like, computers are good, but....

The matrix, a prime example of a fairly anti-technology movie, loved by geeks... an optimistic pessimism towards the future.

You're wrong. Napster is, in its purest form, a distributed filesystem that doesn't even know it. Napster is a very useful tool for sharing legal songs as well. Just because 99.44% of its users are shuttling crappy, copyrighted material around doesn't remove the usefulness of the program. Napster is a good tool for the job of shuttling around mp3s, whether crappy or copyrighted or both or neither.

Do you actually believe this drivel?

Napster wouldn't have a penny of their funding if no one traded illegal mp3s, and you know it.

You're right about the first part, though, I did have trademark and copyright confused, and I didn't realize that if Napster didn't defend their trademark that they would lose it.

  21. This is a brilliant move on the part of Offspring on Napster, Napster, Napster · · Score: 5

Though I am not a fan of The Offspring's music, I think this is a hilariously ironic look at the true forces hard at work at Napster. Napster isn't "the good guys", they're trying to make money like every other corporation, and they're not afriad to sue, just like every other corporation *cough* RIAA *cough*.

Napster lives and dies on trafficking illegal music. If Napster didn't traffic illegal music, there would be no demand for it at all. The offpsring basically just pointed this out, after "supporting" Napster.
