actually, I've seen mine exceed 500kbps on multiple occasions...
the novatel card does seem to perform noticably better than the sierra card on the systems under windows, but still only gets about 300kbps on those systems. Under macos9 on a powerbook g4, I usually get 400-500kbps.
It sounds like nothing more than an iButton with extra memory. iButton has been selling these things for a while, but with java and less memory. Check it out here.
I'd have to say that if you're in the LA area, MM Internet (www.mminternet.com) is the best choice you can make. It took about 4 weeks to get it after I signed up (completed online in about 5 minutes), but when they said 4 weeks, it was in and completely working on the day they said it would be. I've only noticed 3-4 service outages in the year that I've been using the service, too...and at least 2 were the phone company's fault (GTE, of course). Also, when I requested an extra IP, I had it assigned and working within 10 minutes of submitting the online request form.
Well, it's not an OS issue (Macs are supported with Netscape), and it's not a browser issue (both Netscape and IE are supported on different platforms), so it sounds to me like it's a coding problem. Hopefully this is the case, and it will be taken care of soon.
