That these 8 unexpected mutations do not occur in other patients does reinforce the importance of the recurrence of the other two (FLT3 and NPM1).
That being said, personally, I am at a loss as to why genome sequencing 1 patient is more desirable than gene expression analysis over a larger sample; but I am not familiar with the state of the art in AML research.
