The scam site doesn't appear to be there any more (I get a nice 'document not found error') I wonder what the recourse is for those that willingly gave their CC# to a scam site. Sure most CCs have some sort of fraud protection, but I'm willing to bet the number of people who actually read the charges that appear on their monthly bill is so low that even if you did look, you wouldn't notice. caveat emptor
is the assumption that people will migrate to MAC OS from windows just becuase there is a "migration kit" or becuase they are tired of IRQ conflicts. It would seem that *any* OS that got rid of IRQ conflitcs and had a "migration kit" would be "viable".
Wasn't there a law suit some years ago where Capcom sued data east for some sort of copyright infringement? I belive it was over the look and feel of street fighter and Data East's first fighter. (i belive the boss was karnov of nintendo fame) AFAIK the suit was dissmissed on the grounds that Capcom didn't own the rights to martial artitsts fighting styles'. Wouldn't this also apply in this situation? A concept as loose as fighting styles could also apply to 'similar to' as reported. Of course I could be a serious fighting game fan and be wrong.
Odd, that's what most spam looks like to me...:) Seriously, if this were to be taken up in multiple states, it's likely that some smart guy will attempt to have some sort of uniformity in identification. Too bad, however, that this doesn't treat *unsolicited email* as spam, but just *advertisment email*; it won't block those damn chain letters that your friends think are soo kewl to send.
true or not i'd like to see it happen. it would bring the open source 'movement' to the forefront as well as address many of the issues that have plagued MS in the areas of security, bugs, ect. I mean, with so many of the PC users on a win platform, it could solve a lot of problems that might take years (or a clever hacker) to discover.
If windows is open, does it really matter if IE is an app? A large part of many a win programmer is the whole "they give is the alphabet with out the vowels" argument. if true, i bet we'll see better products for the win platform.
Then it wouldn't be "open" would it? This has actually long been an idea of a lot of ppl i'm sure (myself included.) The implications of an open source MSwin are actually staggering. Think about it: the security of a linux/unix box and the 'ease of use' of a win platform. What? no, i wouldn't call it a mac, why do you ask? (last sentence was sarcasm:)
It's still news because it could happen again, and if people paid attention to urls more, it could happen less.

Wasn't the Immaculate Conception the conception of Mary without sin?

An atempt to display the true nature of our own president is met with disdain. Who says that imitation is the greatest form of flattery?
Maybe if the candidates would take some initiative on spam (see above)..... That would be something, the anti-spam platform.
