Actually most people couldn't care less how "powerful" their nation is, that seems to be a primarily American obsession (the impression I get talking to a lot of US tourists anyway). What people do care about is that people don't go around kicking over all the ant hills in the world causing more trouble than they solve - something the current US "8 year old kid" of administration seems to have no concept of.
No, a fusion reactor can not explode or "run-away" as the reaction requires active involvement to enable it to occur (it must be maintained at high pressures and temperatures). If the magnetic containment fails the conditions which support the fusion reaction are removed and the reaction collapses.
Dramatic losses of confinement in tokamaks, called "disruptions" in fusion research, are regular occurances during experiments (as we push the boundaries of the containment to determine its limits etc...), they don't do a lot except throw the machine around and occasionally melt a small section of the vessels inner wall.
I've watched many disruptions occur and I'm still sitting here, exactly 75m from the JET tokamak (my place of employment)
Why don't the people who keep saying amiga RIP, "turn off the life machine" etc... just shut the f*** up, we know the platform has a small user base but it is NOT dead. A lot of amiga users read slashdot and enjoy the ocassional article that is put up about goings on with our platform, however it real annoys us (and really f***s me off, as you might have guessed) when people endlessly post "Amiga is dead" rather than letting people who enjoy the platform intelligently discuss the article. It seems to me that so many of you have your head shoved so far up Linus's ass that you can't accept that there are people who enjoy other platforms........ if you have something constructive to say, say it else just shut up.
Sorry to have insulted many of you, but I think it needed to be said. Respect us and we will respect you.
After all how would you like us to join you discussions saying "Linux is shit and has a crappy monolithic kernal" continuously, I am sure it would piss you off.
