MacBook Air is such a bullshit marketing term. They should call it a "tiny computer box with a flippy screen"

So it's in fact not a bullshit marketing term, but an effective way to convey an idea that consumers wouldn't normally understand.

  4. Confusion? Challenge? on Rapid Browser Development Challenges Web Developers · · Score: 1

It's is the same it's always been: you develop against the worst browser that has significant penetration. From 2001-2008 this was IE6 and you were stuck with it, now that IE6 has finally dropped below 5% (my arbitrary cutoff) I can simply ignore it, and get mad at IE7 instead. Chrome 6 vs 12? Firefox 3.6 vs 4? Who gives a shit! As long as the IEs lag so far behind everyone else, they are the roadblocks and causes of confusion in web development. Not the minor differences between the actual modern browsers.

I read you post and checked the status of the previous bills. They both died in committee two years ago.

It looks like someone did let it die, and Clinton and Boxer are now trying resurrect the protections in the bills.

I guess that renders almost your entire post as both FUD and moot.

  7. Re:Atlantis on "Bronze Age Pompeii" Discovered · · Score: 1

Scientists are pretty sure that the myth of Atlantis is based on the Greek island of Thera. Unfourtunatly for the people of Thera, their little island was actually a big volcano and when the volcano exploded the whole island was destroyed. Where there was once a small city now there was only open sea. From the point of view of the Greeks the island disappeared leaving no evidence behind, or at least any they could observe. How Thera got changed to Atlantis I don't know

  8. Roger Ebert - Tit Freak on Yahoo And Porn: A commentary · · Score: 2, Funny

Now I like porn as much as the next guy and I agree with what he's saying, but I find it hilarious that Roger Ebert is writing this article. Ebert, for all his arty movie reviews and Pulitzer prizes, has a renowned boob fetish. He wrote tit-flicks for Russ Meyer in the 1970s. See also his completly inexplicable review of "Boob Raider" eariler this summer. So come on Roger, you had subscribed to Yahoo groups simply out of curiosity? Riiiiight.

Sorry, Tim. The Heinlein novel is "The Man Who Sold the Moon." [Insert standard bitching about /. editors and their innaccuacies here] "TMWSTM" is a great story. It's all about a buisnessman staging a massive ad campaign to get people interested in moon colonization. Probably the only way we will ever get people to pony up the dough to live up there.

Campaign finance laws prevent a single donor from giving that much money. I'm not sure what the cap is, i think it's $1,000, but it is definatley under $250,000. Even if it was made out as a donation from AOL that's still too much for an individual corporation to give.

  11. Accidental Porn on Lightning Crashes, An Old Freedom Dies (Updated) · · Score: 1

I remember a story in the Chicago Tribune last year about two boys who were searching for pictures of Michael Jordan in the Chicago Public Library. These teenage boys were caught looking at porn and when they were sent home their parents said that the boys were crying and were traumatized by what they saw. The article heavily implied that these poor boy were doing an innocent search when big, bad, evil sex showed up. My friends and I got so pissed at this article that we went to every search engine we could find and tried to find porn links in a sarch for Michael Jordan pictures. Needless to say we didn't find anything until my friend entered "Michael Jordan's big black cock" as a search, and even then there were only a few links. Just another great example of this "accidental porn" that is destroying the minds of our youth.
