I do it with 2GB of memory on Windows XP (please accept my apologies for being a Windows user)...
It's even worth a crash every once in a while - swapping for no reason makes me go nuts. I hate it when my running prorgams get swapped just because they weren't in focus for a while.
Anyways, if I check the "task manager" every once in a while to see how I'm doing memory wise and restart the memory leaking apps or services, it's quite stable...
