Are the administrators at NASA mad. This could have been the most important piece of space exploration in the first half of the 21st century. These false ecconomies have cost the world much needed close research into our solor system and will probably cost NASA billions in budget cuts. But will they learn - I think not. They must be off their trollys'
I replied to a similar article a while ago asking what people had to hide, I stick by that. The real issue here is that governments are selling the information, supposedly gained in the interests of national security, to businesses and indaviduals supporting their own personal interests, not national security.
Whats wrong with you'r hi-fi. Everybody seems obsessed with integrating everything into their computers and linking every piece of electrical equipement to the 'net (in the interests of progress??). Digital Audio Broadcasting is just starting to show its colours in the UK - this should provide enough broadcasting bandwith for everyone. Get a life - buy a radio.
How about using something like 'magic water' to mark personal property (for example cars). Could the imaging systems not use filters to home in. Some conspiracy theorists might not like it, but if you've got nothing to hide...
I can see lots of good applications. If they can get this working who would bet against it disapearing into the military/intel community or the technology being bought by the fuel (oil/electricity) industry only to be swept aside with claims of "unfealibility" - or am i just a cynic
Mabey it's just an American thing. But I find the thread of - "and my favorite tv adverts over a five hour period (in decending order) are...." - just a bit too sad. Some may provide a modicum of entertainment, but is it really - stuff that matters.
