That's may be the intent of the probation department.
Since the judge did not expect him to be able to earn more than minimum wage, then they wanted to punish him in that manner.
They have drunk drivers lecture to others on the EVILS of drunk driving. They have spousal abusers speak about spousal abuse. Why not have a hacker talk on preventing hacking?
He did give this type of lecture to government agencies, but that was free.
The obvious problem of conversation changing the song or the song lyrics changing the song can be solved.
The problem is price. Years ago, cell phones, home computers, car navigation systems didn't have a market. When I wanted to buy my first computer in 1978 my aunt told me that "only rich people have computers at home, for toys."
As more work is done, processing power increases at lower cost, the low price will generate a market.
It's good that they are going after the actual law breaker. They should. The practical problem is three fold. 1. The cost to go after an individual. 2. The collectibility of a judgment. 3. The risk of an adverse judgment.
The risk of an adverse judgment is that if there is a ruling against the label or artist, it can be used against them later.
In reading the source article, they still threaten the universities if they allow access to napster. Maybe Napster should sue these people for intentional interference.
When in Hong Kong, I used the IBM internet connection.
IBM (now AT&T) there is a large coverage. Both locally and internationally. If AT&T didn't screw it up, there still should be some pretty good coverage.
I would recomend bring some alligator clips, a small screw driver, some power adapters. The poiwer supply may be able ot handle the power, but what about the connector?
It goes back to what's obscene? I don't know, but I'll know it when I see it..
Remember the multiple uproars about NEA using government money for some objectionable art. There were discussions as to what was art and the old question of "what is art?".
DOS is stable, and well known. You design these displays with either IR touch or resistive touch.
The reason for IR or resistive is it can handle gloved hands and the calibration is not effected by temperature or vibartions as much as accoustic or capacitance.
The reason for DOS, is it may have bugs, but everyone knows the bugs and all the tools for it is well developed and stable.
Using touch screens allow you to reduce the area needed for controls.
There was no problem with the mars lander. It was the/. black UFO. Didn't you know, the comspiracy about the/. compound on %^%%^$$#@ connection terminated.
If you just want pics for a non-professional website, you don't need much resolution since a display is about 72dpi.
Now, if you want more, go for the optics.
I have an Olympus DL-500. I liked the zoom, but I picked te 500 instead of the 600 because of the price difference (back in 97) and that the 500 had a faster ASA (film speed) since with real film I usually use ASA 400 film.
Most of the pics, done in 1996) on my website were done with an Epson Photo PC. I didn't like the the fact that you needed a computer to 'reload' the 'film'. The Mavica using floppy does make it universal, but I like the size and power use (non-use) of the smart-media cards).
I don't know if they still have it, but they used to. The Brick, it was really a computer, used to have a heat conductive gel pack inside to conduct the heat to the case without using a fan. Why have they not used this along with the case as a heat sink? Then a fan for additional cooling?
Many of the cash registers use OS/2. The cash registers that don't run under OS/2, use OS/2 as their service provider.
Many airlines use OS/2, but ValueJet ran Windows, maybe that's why they crashed;)
According to Bill Gates, "OS/2 is the operating system of the future".
I use Merlin, and have been using OS/2 as my primary desktop since 1992. I'd say it's more stable than Windows, but that's not really saying anything. Back in 1994, someone I worked with realized how stable OS/2 when he saw OS/2 crash during a database import. I was running a database import in a DOS box, and the desktop crashed and restarted itself. The import that was running, did not stop.
But that does not answer the question. If a company provides a good workplace (as you defined) but dumps poisons into the river, is that worse than the company with poor working conditions, but zero polutants?
How do you define and quantify socially responsible?
Does donating $X to charity count more than not having slave labor? Does it count, when the company makes changes, when caught? As we know, when the clothing manufacturers were caught with slave labor, they made moves to improve it. But, companies that did not use slave labor should get more credit, than ones who cleaned up after getting caught.
How many points do we asess against Mattel for the CPHack case? My case? Mattel's general abusive of practice?
What about a company that produces a 'bad ' product, but donates to a charity? Maybe a gun (or whatever) manufacturer that also teaches math to kids in ghettos. How do we compute that?
The term "Censorship" is over-used these days, especially in Slashdot typeforums. Censorship is something that governments do.
Corporations have been enlisting the government to censor.
In the CPHack case, Microsystems / Mattel got the government to issue a restraining order. In the DeCSS case, TROs were issued, and the police kicked down one person's door. In my case Mattel just used to cost and threat of lititgation to try to shut me up.
It's not just the actual acts that are the censorship. The more insidios part is that others watching will see this and self-censor themselfs.
If you read the libel / SLAPP / first amendment cases, the courts discuss the issue of self censorship.
Mattel has been going after Barbie Benson for her website Barbie's Sin Circus claiming trademark infringement and dilution. (or at least what I was told). And to keep the purity of the Barbie name.
This is the same argument that they used in the Barbie Girl lawsuit.
I'm so shocked! I would never imagine that a large company or association would make misrepresentations or flat out lie to the public, government, or court.
Why would they do something like that? Just to try to keep their monopoly? Naahh.
Since the judge did not expect him to be able to earn more than minimum wage, then they wanted to punish him in that manner.

It's because he can make money at it!

I like having printed manuals, their batteries do not wear out, and they can be taken anywhere.
The Mach 5 can:

On mail and on junk phone calls, the advertiser pays. The phone company and the postal services makes money on this.
And of course, the infamous area 32767, where all positive numbers slip into the negative universe.
It seems funny that people working for Bill Gates would be using the word weenie.

I could have made it clearer. But have an option ot load an audio CDTrack, or a MP3 from the CD into memory.
This is for the people who want to want to listen to one or two tracks repeatedly.
Is that any more clear? Is it still most illogical thing you ever heard?
