One of the big newspapers in Norway arranged a netmeeting with Jon Johansen yesterday where people could write questions and he would answer online. See http://interaktiv.vg.no/CGI/intervju/intervju/jonj oh (norwegian) Anyways one of the readers asks: "I just wanted to know if it was Xing which had the uncoded player, so that you could figure it out." An Jon Johansen answers: "The player that hadnt protected its keys was made by Xing, and by the way I do not recomend this player it is of bad quality." -------- Phalse
My last post didnt get your attention so I made a new heading to cut trough. Sorry about the spam. Note how the message above says Copyright (C) 1999 Derek Fawcus. Why then is it Jon johansen who is cahrged for "breaking the code"?
Why are we all talking about Jon Johansen writing this program when it clearly states: * Copyright (C) 1999 Derek Fawcus in the post above? Is this the greman whos name is so hard to obtain?
On Økokrims webpages you can find an excerpt of paragraph 262 of the penal law. Ill try to translate:....by breaking the protection or in other ways countrary to law obtaining for himself or others television or radio signals with the intet of economic profit. Profit isnt exactly the right word to use I guess the norwegian word covers more than just plain money. (For his own good would prob be better than profit)
