I think that the article is kinda false, for every weird showbiz star there is a famous high school retard that got into sports. IMHO the down to earth folks make the best adults (adult as a person not job or status). Geeks and Jocks that got over it fail second and there is a large amount of dwebs who never fix their life as well as popular high school guys that have a messed up after high school, i mean just look at the weird uncle stereotype and the "once most popular guy at school", now future less uncle stereotype.
It should be better if it would be focused more on software movement than linux, cause teaching the public that the whole "linux" thing is like microsoft is bad, it doesn't work like that in free culture.
The use of the linux desktop & notebook distro's is rising gradually all the time, and doesn't boom cause the general population (users of most pc's & notebooks) doesn't go for the best but for the most common.
On the other side, in the industry we see that free software has won & merged with proprietary software rather well, just look at the numbers at netcraft, google, wikipedia, tivo, all those devices, robocar's, the us army and what not else.
I don't agree that gnu/linux (or bsd or....), are not inventive and triying to copy stuff from microsoft, just look how and where they are used.
here in macedonia around 10 years ago irc (everyone said mirc) was the main thing, then blogs and now facebook. IM wise its ICQ > MSN > Skype
Can't you just use the heat of the body somehow?
