applies to all fields. IS just has an excessive level of bad attitude and god complex.
I just don't believe the percentage of "abuse" is any higher in IS then other fields. I've been in IS for over 10 years now and I have never been abused by a manager (I have been verbally assaulted once or twice by disgruntled employees however)
That being said, I have seen people get some amount of abuse. Abuse that someone doing a similarly shabby job in another field would also get. The difference is in another field they wouldn't cry abuse, they'd call it getting chewed out for messing up.
I have to say. A lot of IS really does need to grow up and realise it's not all about them. This isn't highschool anymore. The jocks aren't out to get you. Do your job, do it well, Deal with the occasional unpaid overtime, and stop being condescending (most abuse I've seen has come from a "I can't be at fault" attitude)... Either that or go work in another industry and see how much "abuse" you get with the same attitude.
