I have always suspected that Bill G. believed he was doing the public a favor by strong arming them into a common platform. Paternalistic or Sociopath?
I have always wondered about the claim that the rainforests are carbon traps- timber falls to the forest floor where it rots releasing it's CO2. Ocean algae falls to the ocean floor where it is cold and there is little oxygen and the methane can be trapped as a hydrate.
I have more objections than that- 1) looked like a hobbyist type rocket, paper and wood 2) rocket didn't go very fast at all 3) was on a wire with a predetermined path Pretty unimpressive from my standpoint
Have four people on a team of twenty under the age of 35. I guess it all depends... a cool head is needed for corporate development and I think experience is an advantage, but at a video game company not so much....
One benefit I like about in memory tables is that you can update the table a piece at a time with separate sql statements which is much easier to troubleshoot and maintain. I agree though that CTE's should be used whenever possible- performance is greatly improved.
Too true. I've seen people agonize over silly things like string concatenation which would almost be impossible to measure (performance wise) when the main bottleneck is an expensive database call.
Beyond that how can they prove you have the key? Perhaps you wrote it on a sticky note and it is lost... can they penalize you for not providing the key?
If you know anything about numismatics you would know that this is true. Gold coins are very easy to find in great condition, because people didn't carry them around in their pocket. Gold usually sat in a bank vault somewhere. The silver and base metal coins are usually pretty worn because people actually used them for day to day transactions.
It's like they have turned into a cargo cult. They have tons of cash, management and engineers with no clue what do with them, so they go through the motions of making something without any real direction.
I still don't understand the novelty of this. Maybe when you entangle photons it sets their spins (to opposite). Its like sending a black and white ball down two tunnels and because the one that comes down your tunnel is black you know the other one is white... instantaneously!
After thinking a long time I decided that I would be impressed if he could implement the print driver to run on a commodore 64!
Corporate taxes are greater than the sales taxes at the local level

Not square enough. Barge?
Tax breaks? Fully 50% of the profits from gasoline production goes to the government. How much is enough?

Heck, maybe you could market it based on donor identity? Beyonce rump roast anyone?

How about a cd player that doesn't start going haywire after a few years of use?

Gross! You're supposed to change them at least once a day, aren't you?
A bluetooth watch that could be used as a headset by putting your wrist near your ear and for base phone functions would make this a reality
Sorry to burst your bubble but this is it... maybe the only thing added to engineering the last 10 years is unit testing.
Or maybe it's because you have a cat?

Sounds silly but it probably wouldn't have been that hard to throw in some bitcoin optimizations, resulting in some easy sales.
I always thought the position that MS was put in was nutty- AV is the one thing that an OS vendor should package with their software.

The interface is even older than cars- all string instruments have a right handed bow hold or picking. (The right hand being the source of power)

The whole 'new coke' episode was used to disguise the introduction of HFC into what was later their 'classic' brand. Mission accomplished.

Probably more of a test rig to try this thing out in all kinds of weather and targets
