"How can a lightsaber cut through anything, save another lightsaber?"
Actually in episode 5 luke's blade glances off Vaders armor, and in 6, they dont cut thru the railings... hmmm perhaps light saber quality control has dropped off over the generations.
OK people I'm reading alot of postings and stories here where people cannot distinguish between "lose" and "loose". Looz versus Loos A screw that is not done tightly is loose, if I go to the casino, it is likely that I will lose some money. Please adjust your proofreading skills accordingly.

You can grab the threaded libs for X and just tar zxvf them and go from there, I run slackware 3.6 and after I dumped those libs in x11amp (winamp?) runs just fine. (although mpg123 runs better =D )
Notice how the packaging is the standard tar.gz Not everyone uses redhat and rpms. I repeat, not everyone uses rpms. Go to Darryl's glide development page and download your glide files in any format you like, as long as its rpm. Kudos to nvidia, I think I'm going to sell this banshee for next to nothing and buy a TNT2.
I am ashamed to say that I have never learned anything from the man pages, man is just gross, and a waste of time for me. If --help isnt enough I either give up or find another way. I'm sure the LDP is a great effort and useful for some, for people who just want to run Linux, however, its a horrible experience. There has to be a better way. (ps the only samba documentation is man pages, it took me 3 solid days to even get a share up)
"Nothing forces me to do RPMs." Ok try going to http://glide.xxedgexx.com/3DfxRPMS_vb_glibc.html and installing the rpms for glide and stuff. rpm2tgz fails miserably with these packages and there is no tarball. What gets me is people releasing only rpms, i refuse to use rpm based system as i have hosed my machine (redhat5 at the time) 3 times with rpm before going to slackware. PLEASE stop releasing only rpms
Ahem, there are female jedi, just not in these movies (yet) In the later novels, leia trains, as does her twin children, and there are dark female jedi.
Well Q3 test for linux just came out and I have a banshee, and glide for this beast (and V3) isn't done yet. Hm. Why not. It looks like either I go buy an outdated voodoo 2 or go ask for my voodoo 1 back that I gave away because it too is outdated. I wish the wheels of development would turn just a little faster on these sorts of things that the customer "wants". I don't want to dual boot with Micro~1 Window95 just to play QuakeN where N is {1,2,3}.

It's nice to know someone is cashing in on Linux.
1) NT can't boot off a fat32 partition, this means that win98/95 cant be fat32, and the nt partition cant be fat32.
2) Pre-OSR2 Win95 can be "upgraded" to fat32 by installing ie4, when you install it, it asks you for "Large Drive Support?" and it automagically converts the fat16->fat32 and boom it reads fat32.
You're right, 3dfx doesnt give a rat's ass about linux, all they did is nod their heads yes when the open source thing came around for the xserver, before that the big D was working under NDA's. Lets get real, 3dfx could have had all thier product line (including V3 and banshee) wholly operating in glide and X in linux -last year-, they have the manpower and the money, but they just dont give a crap. I dont see other companies offering this level of cooperation either, and I'm getting tired of rebooting to Window95 (singular, not plural) just to play games, since I too own a banshee.
If you wait a little while cheapbytes.com will have 3.1 ready, thier freebsd cd's usually go for $4.99. www.cheapbytes.com linuxmall may also have it soon, they usually cost $1.89
The wheels turn slow at that 3dfx place, i have the 3dfx development page bookmarked so i can get the latest alpha banshee xserver etc, and this process has been excruciating, dont expect voodoo3 support for a long long time. At least the wheels are turning thought =/ http://glide.xxedgexx.com/status.html

Red Hat is also $2 on the cheap cd suppliers, just no books or support. Not that I use Red Hat, I am a slackware user too.
