So how did you sign up for the anonymous isp? Did you do it over the net? Did you call? If you did any of the above, then they could/ do have logs linking that so called anonymous account to a very real phone number/ ip number. Theirs a lovely little paper trail when you do most stuff, no matter how sneaky you are trying to be.

What you folks don't seem to get, is that stealing is wrong. I don't care if its Metallica that is standing up for them selves or any other band. Many people trade mp3s, because: A) They don't know it is wrong, or B) They don't think they can get caught. Well anyone who has any knowledge about how the web works, knows that their is no anonymity. Matallica has just shown that, and is trying to protect what is rightfully theirs.

I work for a university installing ethernet cards and hooking students computers to the campus network. I ran in to one case where AOL 5, BROKE the ethernet connection. It overwrote files so many files, that the card was no longer even detected properly. After working on it for several hours, I told the student to call us when he deletes AOL 5. For gods sakes, it copies its own version of such files as winsock32.

He cant be convicted of the same crime again, so even if it contains evidence of his previous crime, the gov. cant use it against him.
