This was a suicide that happend to invlove the murder of other people. But it is still a suicide. People who are not mentally ill do not committ suicide without some major life tragedy. This does not seem to be the case in any of the school shootings.
These kids are ovbiously mentally ill, and all the gun legislation or blaming Doom in the world will not help them.
People have this stupid idea that Mental Illness is something to be ashamed of and that it someone elses problem. Mental Illness is an illness just like heart problems, diabeties and cancer. We need to wake up and treat it like an illness or else this is only the beginning of the problem. The school shootings show that mental illness is everyone's problem.
My favorite happened at a company that I worked for. We used DEC to repair our Mac IIci's in our remote offices (like in North Dakota).
We had a failed HD in one Mac. The tech unhooked everything from the back of the Mac and replaced the HD. He then hooked the monitor up to the AUI port on the Ethernet Card.
It stated smoking. So he turned it off, then drove 3 hours back to his supplier. The next morning he drove back for 3 hours, replaced the NIC and then promply plugged the monitor right back into the AUI port again.
More Smoke. He got it right the third time. That made for 18 hours of driving time. All because he could not plug a monitor into the port with the picture of a monitor on it.
That reminds me of a joke: Q: How long does it take for a DEC engineer to replace a lightbulb. A: It depends on how many trips to his car until he runs out of spair bulbs.
I read the bit on apps being rewritten for Windows2000 and could only say "duh!" When has any OS ever come out and apps didn't need to be rewritten to take advantage of the new features.
The BeOS bit did not surprise me at all this is very typical of MS.

You have to wonder if is is really dumb or really tricky. Probably Tricky.
