This Idea is not new I mean MSFT has been doing this for a long time. IMO is this the best way for companys to release their products because A. it protects their works, but B is allows other people to make their products great. The problem that we see like mentioned was companies like Google who remove services but yet on the other spectrums we still have MS DOS support in Windows 7. I think companies can open up their APIs which allows protected business interest but still allows improvement for the development community. The idea why keep reinventing the wheel?
