  1. My exp...Re:Regression on Harvard Pres Says Females Naturally Bad at Math · · Score: 3, Informative

My life is a good example of how things can end up not working the way I wanted them to but worked out pretty well.

Rewind eight years ago -> married a "career gal" wanted to be a DINKs as both careers were going well. Ended up having a kid, she decides she wants to be a homemaker. I was really unhappy about it and the loss of income. But I figured I was not going to force her to so something she didn't want to.

Today-> well knowing that I had to support a family I have been forced to make smarter career moves, twice being stuck in well-paying jobs I didn't like at all. However, our kids (five and three) are well adjusted, healthy, home is calm, my wife is very happy doing what she does and spending some of my money. But in return she keeps me happy. Realises that I do bust my ass to support them and doesn't hassle me when I want to spend a bit on myself or go out with the guys.

I think I ended up with it pretty good. Will have to see what the future holds.

geez, sound and nothing more? Geee, Orb and Simon Posford? Will that music endure the test of time? will it be around 100 years from now? or even 10 years from now. look at the artists today who have lasted that the last 30 years even. There is a big difference between those that create independant of the medium and tools and those that create with the tools and medium.

  3. Re:Wireless Web - HAH on Sprint Web Phones Leak Users' Phone Numbers · · Score: 2

Sprint PCS coverage sucks almost anywhere you go.
Here is why: When Sprint set up they're network, they opted to go with CDMA. CDMA base stations can cost 2x to 5x what a typical GSM or D-AMPS base station does (albeit with a much better voice quality and a dubiously better capacity per cell).
Sprint in their effort to roll out their network real fast, skimped on the amount of base stations they bought, thus stretching their cells out to the maximum limit (i.e. bad coverage) which in turn led to more dropped calls, especially when driving.

If they would have gone GSM or good old D-AMPS they could have had far better coverage and more happier customers. So it was not the technology or engineers, but the marketers and operations folks.

Think of something like a Palm Pilot but a bit narrower. Microphone in the fold open cover, virtual keypad on the screen, a 800x400 pixel color display. Fast data rates via GPRS or EDGE.
    Trust me, its coming.....

  5. Re:Good reason NOT to have a cell phone on Sprint Web Phones Leak Users' Phone Numbers · · Score: 2

It does not use triangulation algorithm. It uses some sort of hyperbolic curvature algorithm based on signal strength and the location of the cell you are currently in and can be done with only one base tranceiver station. Trust me I work with the elves!
