this is not socialistic in any way, shape, or form. social security is socalistic. medicare is socialistic. this is simply letting the work be done by the lowest bidder(s) (in this case the open source community) a group who has proven their ability to code circles around most busnesses. socialisum is "redistributing wealth" i dont see any wealth being redistributed... does anyone else?

ahh... your making a invalid assumption. you assume that "normals" care... they dont! they are just consumers, they consume industry propaganda ("see ours is better and costs the same... DONT LOOK AT THE MAN BEHIND THE CURTIN!!") and whatever products that propagande says to. WE all know that rambus is full of a bunch of people who would sell the mother for a three doller bill, but THEY *point to the crowds of sheeple starting back blankly* dont know or care.

while he makes some interesting points, i think that it is important to note that most every *nix distribution comes with all of the features he discribes. they may not be intigrated into the kernel but they are still there for you to use (or not use at your discretion. its also important to note that even in windows most of the features are not accualy part of the KERNAL but are seprate programs which are ran. and so under even this new defetion of operating system, most of the distibutions of *nix ARE OSes.

SEWilco is right... if you wanna build a
inter-plaitary/setller craft (or any other large non-terestrial object for that matter), you dont build it planet side... it takes to much gas to get it into orbit. you build it in space, useing the prevelint resorces there. And it relly dosent take any massive equipment either: useing robots (as colleceters and builders), a reactor for power, and a automated smelter, it becomes relitivly cheap. the best part is a few robots can be programed to make more... cousing the building capibility to increse exponentionly, without expontial cost increse!
