But emotion doesn't make one intelligent, no matter important it may be.
I am a big fan of both series, and was in line to see Phantom Menace on the first day, but the two shows to me for different reasons -- they're not the same, but that doesn't make either *wrong*.
>My own notion is that there are significant class >differences between the two cults. "Star Wars >has always attracted a different audience >brainier, more techno-centered
I just don't see this. I've always thought of the Star Trek audience as smarter... this are, after all, the people who identify with Spock and Data, rather than those who identify with Luke and "trust your instincts".
And the sheer numbers of the box office results imply that Star Wars is the more mainstream of the two (not to argue for a minute that Star Trek is not mainstream)
>COME ON!!! A nine year old would be much more likely to say "I heard you talking about M__, what is that, anyway?"
About this line, I just wanted to say that the two lines are virtually identical -- and why would a nine year old not say the former, especially in favor of the semantically and grammtically identical latter?
>COME ON!!! A nine year old would be much more >likely to say "I heard you talking about M__, >what is that, anyway?"
As much as I didn't like the droids being inserted in this, remember that Vader almost never saw them face to face (did he ever?) and it looks like he likely didn't finish '3P0, so he never saw him with his skin on anyway.
Besides, we've seen several protocol droids throughout the series, no doubt Vader has seen hundreds of them throughout his lifetime -- he likely stopped wondering "Could that be... nah" within the first ten years.
I'm more concerned with why he didn't have a reaction to Tattoine in the first movie, and why Luke was hidden in such an obvious place... but the answer to that is obvious -- Lucas hadn't written this script yet.
As far as another's message's comments about the Jedi Council dismissing Anakin's readings, they seemed to take the readings seriously to me, but they judged (and rightly so!) they he could become far too dangerous. I just disagree how they dealt with that realization.
if (Metachloreans == Force) (Force == Spiritual Force in the Universe) AND (Shmi + Metachloreans = Anakin) then Hmmmm.
Um, I never said that emotion was *wrong*.
