Another bunch of Naderistic nonsense.
What do you think about how corporations are created ??? Each of them can trace its origin to an INDIVIDUAL or group of INDIVIDUALS, who decided to start a business and SHIELD THEMSELVES from the possible failure.
Have you heard of Eolas (sp?) - another IP mini-vulture? It consists of some Chicago professor who got a patent on what is essentially applets in a webpage, started a company and sued Microsoft. If his claim is denied, he'll simply bancrupt the company and not worry about the cost of litigation. If he'd sue them as individual, he'd have a chance to loose his property if the things turn sour.
Is he an individual ??? YES.
Does he try to hold industry by the balls??? YES.
Does your anticorporate sentiment have something to do with reality??? NO.
Why ??? Because if you remove the ability to register Rambuses and Eolases of the world from individuals, they will just take chances and try holding the world by the balls as individuals! Some will loose, some will win, most will settle because the current state of affairs in the courts is that big guys have much better luck giving an extortionist a few millions for their ridiculous patent and continue as usual.
Other thing is that Rambus is much worse than Eolas since they want to collect royalties forever instead of the lump sum (sp?) payoff.
And you forget to remind that these Linux companies actually sell some product (their respective distribution), and someone pays them for support (who will do it for browser?), and most of them still can't break even!
IIRC, free councel you get when you can't afford one is the one Feds or state provides you with. It means that (s)he is the employee of the government and is paid (relatively low) salary by the government. The fact that their services are provided to you for free does not mean that they work for free.
They run your computer (country) and do what they are supposed to do (pretty much), but they consume disproportionately high share of resources and insist that the other operating systems (society models) do not exist or are inferior.
BTW, civil rights are secured by LAWMAKERS, who are ELECTED OFFICIALS and not by LAWYERS. True, some of the officials (but not all) have law degrees, but their education is not something that makes them want to change the world to make it better. Lawyers who PRACTICE LAW are either billing their clients or running business of extracting money for their own good from the other businesses.
The point is that once you've made a call to some number they track (f.e., criminal on the run calls his mom;-) , they can find the number of your card and get notified as soon as you use it again. notofication will include your current location (i.e. number of the (pay, cell)phone you're currently using.
I live in a metro area, that includes a relatively small city in a neighbouring state. Calling there requires a code dial and costs money.
People who live and work in different states just buy themselves cell phones in their own state with free forwarding, and forward it to the work or home phone in different state.
So, callers just dial local cell phone number and the call is free for them, and since the cell phone owners have their phone forwarded, they don't pay air time.
I've written it here on/. once, I'll write it twice.
Once you've used your prepaid card once, it is no longer anonimous. I've used to contract in one company like that, and the programmer there had a couple of letters with a grateful words from the US Marshals.
Poor schmucks were making a call with a card, and Feds were later learning who paid for this call. They were contacting the company, and company was determining what particular card was used. As soon as this card was used again, Feds were notified and given the originating phone number.
After that the criminals were quickly caught.
So, the only solution is to use this pre-paid card only ONCE. And you can't buy a bunch of them at one place, since they might be able to trace the purchase transaction and know the numbers (it is true not for all brands of cards though; some of them require activation, some don't).
Who cares about Prez, the respect or disrespect is that of a country and its policies. Because when America, Russia or China says something, everyone listens carefully.
Who indoctrinates kids and sends them as a cover for gunmen ?
And who pays to the families of newly killed or wounded "martyrs" more than they make in a month or even a year ?
And what happens to Israelis who are unfortunate to be caught by Arabs ?
If political leaders were able to talk to Brezhnev, they will handle Bush easily;-)
Seriously, Clinton's foreign policy was one of the worst in the entire modern American history.
1) His Middle Eastern policy was to threaten both Israel and Palestinians to do empty talk without requiring Arafat to change anything. As the result, real changes of attitude were never on the table, and Arafat used his new power for further hate indoctrination and corruption, and current bloodshed is the confirmation of Clinton's failure.
2) Yugoslavia: unfortunately, I can't find my earlier post. To sum it, Clinton has put the country of 12 million people to feed defence contractors and make everyone forget Monicagate.
3) Saddam is still there (Clinton shares some responsibility with Bush Sr though). They bomb him once in a while, but nothing really changes. They have also allowed him to sink the opposition (that was encouraged by Americans) in it's own blood.
... it's Naderistic barbarians who shoot at businesses with lawsuits.
It reminds me of Harry Harrison's Eden trilogy where iilane had hesotsan (sp?) weapon, that was a live creature spitting poisonous darts. Sounds like a lawyer to me;-)
So, who cares about the way it was achieved - cheating (everyone who dealt with MS got screwed) and monopolistic, predatory practices or cheating (Rambus patented technologies it was working on in the JEDEC industry body) and litigating over patents ???
As for intentionally degrading technology, Bill does it unintentionally - have you ever tried to upgrade Windows just to screw your computer?;-)
1) By the time Israel was founded the amount of Jews and Arabs was about the same in the British Mandate of Palestine. This is why they decided to divide the area.
2) Arabs in Israel live much better (financially) than Arabs in any Arab country without oil. They have all the rights citizens have. I'll point your attention to the fact that Israeli Arabs have NEVER sided with Palestinians before month ago.
Also, look at the Palestinians in Lebanon or Jordan. All of them live in the camps there. And these are Arab states!
3) Media is EXTREMELY anti-Israel. Just look how they were chastiting democratically elected Prime Minister Netaniahu. And every news service spits at Israel every time some clashes happen.
If Israel could exist in 1948 borders it would exist in them. It were Arabs who attacked just created Jewish state. They had never wanted to divide this miniscule excuse of a country, they wanted to slaughter all Jews.
So, Arabs got what they deserved. As for you, sitting in the safe USA and theoreticizing how everyone must love everyone on the Earth is just plain stupid. You can't even curb the American Anti-Semites, so what do you expect of the Middle East?
... I've been doing some "shortcuts" when reading it by going to the URL and changing the page number manually until I reached the last page I really needed.
Unfortunately, it does not work with any hardware site, notably Ace Hardware that has good (IMHO) reviews, but you can't fast forward to the conclusion page neither through site navigation nor using the technique described above.
Don't forget that there are some other factors to consider.
Since overall system performance increases (because of faster hard drives and wider buses), these tests allow better evaluation of the card itself. Also, stability and driver maturity are rarely an issue for an older card.
One thing that still sucks is that some of these cards are still mostly Windows-only; alternative OS-es don't have drivers for all of them.
Manufacturers probably hate such reviews since they get most of their profits from the latest and greatest hardware. So, everything that tells smart shoppers to avoid wasting money and be happy with a bit older hardware that is still perfectly capable deprives them from the stupidity tax enthusiasts and ignorants pay (I know that some folks MUST have this hardware for CAD, but they are minority and usually don't pick the tab themselves, leaving it to their employer).
It's probably incorrect call the non-sun Sparcs clones because Sun does not own the architecture; www.sparc.org is the group that does. They have revisions, and other companies implement their sparc processors conforming to a certain revision of the spec.
Speaking of databases, you can write standard SQL that most databases will execute, and look how their optimizer executes it. JDBC makes some translation the way ODBC does.
Alternative would be having everything in stored procedures that will be written specifically for each DB.

At least you'll pay less taxes, so you'll be able to buy vodka with extra money and try sinking the grief like many Russians do
This also is relevant when speaking about Grammar Nazis.
... that Cubans traditionaly vote Republican whether Puerto-Ricans whose amount is growing side with Democrats.

This is what you've come to.
Most of the Mafia in the US was Italian; does it mean that each Italian is selfish murderer who preys on honest people ???
You can never make a sound conclusion without listening to both sides. Read this:

You'll see just a minor part of what Arabs were doing to Jews in Palestine.
Have you heard about Windows Tax ??? ;-)
