As a heterosexual male who doesn`t give a damn what other people are up to in THEIR lives - I don`t mind if you`re gay or straight (I just don`t want big wet kisses off another bloke !) If you`re so anti-homosexual, just be glad that theres less competition for the women desperate enough to want to sleep with such a twisted man(?) as yourself. (Most "men" are comfortable enough with their sexuality not to have to comment on others) Live your life, and let others live theirs. They don`t necessarily want (or deserve) your opinions - as i`m sure you would object if they forced their opinions on you. I`m guessing you`re the type of twisted individual who would prefer anyone who thinks or acts differently to you to be put on an island somewhere, or shot.

You forgot to add that linux still doesn`t have a common standard for opengl, so before all you linux users whine about the SDK not having it, look closer to home... I`ve installed linux a few times and ended up wiping the HD again - it`s not the easiest of environments to work in, despite all the talk from people who are not too far removed from system administrators in their knowledge... This is not a flame war, it is a statement based on personal experience, and lack of help from other linux users - all they can say is "RTFM" - that`s all well and good, but they often leave more questions than they answer...

That may be so, but I can`t tell any difference between the Amiga sound and my SB16 - and maybe it`s just me, but the Amiga often sounds better (maybe it`s just all the superb musicians we had / have ?)

LOL... yeah, a 400Mhz machine can just about match the speed of a 14Mhz machine from several generations ago How fitting that as soon as the Amiga OS which ran so well on such slow hardware is updated to the same 400Mhz processor natively, you won`t know what`s hit you ;-) Who asked what defined the Amiga ? o the "comfort" of the OS o the speed and versatility o the intuitiveness o the ability to allow modular software to vary the "core" of the OS o the users - linux users say "see the HOWTO" Amiga users just did (and DO) it to help EACH OTHER Winblows users just don`t know enough to ask questions in the first place...

  5. Re:Amiga again? on Amiga DirectoryOpus 4 Released Under GPL · · Score: 1

I first got an Amiga in 1992.

In June 1993 it started work as a bulletin board system, and it hasn`t been switched off for more than 2 weeks in total since - during which time (not all at once), I have had to reinstall the OS *twice* due to dead HD`s.

If this is the kind of rock-steady reliable performance you get out of your present PC, whichever OS you use, you can collect your medal (don`t go upgrading your OS now, we haven`t needed to (much)! ).

If however, you are still awestruck at how efficient, powerful, and downright pleasant to use the Amiga is, you may smile

It manages all this on a processor no faster than a 386-25 (i`m on an 020-14Mhz) and boots in 10-15 seconds flat to a proper gui.

Dopus is one of the definitive file handling utilities available in the world, it REALLY IS THAT GOOD, and the sooner someone ports it the better.

We are so damned stubborn in supporting it because it`s just so damned good, even today, despite being slower than your average calculator - it is still faster than Win-dohz for any non-processor intensive tasks due to it`s inherent intuitiveness and responsiveness.

They kick ass, and if you don`t believe it, go see one in action.
