  1. Another Book on Learning Ext JS · · Score: 5, Informative

I've been using Ext JS for a little while now and when I went looking for books I saw the reviewed book and another one titled "Ext JS in Action" ( http://manning.com/garcia/ ). I ended up choosing the latter. While it is still in the process of being written the publisher has a early access program that allows you to get the chapters as they are written. I would definitely recommend the book to others interested in learning Ext JS.

Ok now that I got that out of the way...

I finished my EE degree and entered the engineering workforce at 28. If anything I found my age may have helped me. Most of the people you end up working with won't know when you finished your degree, so they end up looking at you as someone who is probably more experienced. Throw in the fact that in a technology job you have to stay current and not everyone does. Coming fresh from university you'll most likely be current.

Age doesn't matter it's your skills and drive, boy. (And stop asking questions that make me feel old)

...They spent who knows how many millions developing and promoting a service allowing me to pay my bills online. Too bad every major Canadian bank already provides this service!

Thats not what the service is. Epost.ca allows you to receive your bills and stuff online, not just pay (saves the trees). And I believe it was developed with a business partner. Canada Post Corporation also now has a mandate to be self sufficient.

BUT, the use of the program, or the mirroring, or even the download of it anywhere inside the US is still illegal. Lawyers have a tendancy to ask for everything they could possibly have a cliam to, and are asking for the logs of all the people who downloaded the thing, probably in order to track down more people to target.

I can see your point, especially about the mirroring. BUT, ignoring the mirror sites in the US, those lawyers would still have to obtain logs from the original (or mirror) sites outside the US. If I owned one of those sites I wouldn't likely give up the logs because of a US state court order.

Does anyone know why the authors of CPhack gave up, apparently so easy? Did they cave to pressure, did their ISP cave to pressure, did they get paid off?

What people are also missing is that DeCSS and CPHack were programed outside the US! How is it that American law would have any jurisdiction outside of US Boarders! Whether or not the DMCA comes into action until October, it still isn't enforcable in Canada or Sweden.

I still curious to know why the authors of CPHack caved to Mattel?
