Hi, we here at/. like to promote a segmented linux community. We do not promote the widespread use of linux (no matter what distro), just Debian.
Come on, I've said it once and I'll say it again, this is the worst site for the promotion of opensource. They only point out the bad, never the positives. Damn, a bug is a bug. all OS's have them INCLUDING DEBIAN. nothing is safe from the falability of the human mind
I have used rh for some time now, and I have never had a problem (or at least one that hasn't prevented me from doing something prodcutive). I will continue to use rh because I trust that it will work correctly everytime I install it, and it has. I highly doubt that all rh rpms will have a charge associated with them, especially the higher security ones.
As someone who will never go into a computer related field, and who has a limited knowledge of the linux community, I feel I must comment as an outsider. about 95% of the recent posts are NEGATIVE. I don't know if many people know, but there is something called POSITVE CRITISISM. "We hate this, we hate that..." come on CHILDREN, GET A LIFE. If you don't like something, propose ways of changing it but don't HATE it outright. If you like another distro, fine. DON'T HATE ME BECAUSE I DO THINGS DIFFERENTLY. Isn't the whole idea behind LINUX to be DIFFERENT.

Your right, Red Hat is not Linux. It is only a part of what Linux has become. The problem is that the media needs something tangable to speak of, the Linux community is too fragmented. Obvioiusly, when I say Windows I'm only speaking of one thing. Linux can mean many things.
I'm from North Carolina, and I lived in Durham for 2 years. I'm kinda partial to Red Hat myself, though I try to stay about all distros.
