> The only concern is that for C#, you'll most likely want to stick to Microsoft ecosystem (Visual Studio is a great development environment, but you'll have to deploy to Asure, whereas you have more choices with Java, including Amazon and Google Linux clouds).
Err what? You can deploy to hundreds of hosting providers... including AWS.
So, meantime node.js is no longer maintained. WHO CARES?
You stick to your old version, and you are good. If you need new features that belong into node.js and not into your software you hire one for it. Or you write it yourself.
Most folks with half a brain cell have left because of the constant slanted summaries, biased moderation by people with an axe to grind and the constant FUD and lies being spread on here.
Don't think that the constant karma whoring and circlejerking by the likes of symbolset, bmo, etc. and the moderation does not have any ill effects. There's no place for rational discourse here, whoever posts the most anti-MS screed gets voted up regardless of facts.
The words "Secure Boot" seems to suddenly turn off the logic circuits in the brains of many otherwise intelligent folks and make them say dumb things and also cause selective amnesia. I have no other explanation for this continued ignorance on such a large scale for such a long time. The anti-MS FUD articles and modded up FUD and hating comments also don't help and serve to perpetuate the ignorance.
Well, once you get past the tech savvy crowd which is like 1% of the browsing population, even if Firefox truly beats Chrome by a big margin, I don't think this is going to change things one bit for Firefox.
Chrome is bundled with Java, Acrobat and Flash updates, which ~98% of computers in the world have. Forget a checkbox in a hurry because you want to do something useful and Chrome is installed.
It is bundled with many PCs by the OEMs who get paid for it.
It is constantly advertised on TV and on Google properties like Google search engine and Youtube, especially to Opera and IE users.
Mozilla doesn't have the resources to do the above and,all this explains Chromes' growth among the nontech crowd more than just performance differences.
I have personally seen many folks for who I installed Firefox back in the day end up using Chrome. When I ask them, most of the time they don't have no idea how they got it. Google's been sinking a lot of money into Chrome over the years(even paying websites $1 per download they drive) and it makes sense because one more Chrome install they don't have to pay money to Firefox and Opera for being the default search for another user. Benchmarks are not going to change any of this.
So because one monoculture exists, that makes it okay for the others? So if one thief steals your car and never gets caught, it makes it acceptable for a second thief to steal your bike?
This line of thinking is some of the absolute DUMBEST bullshit still floating around on the internet.
Only if you're a big Apple fanboy, as you're known to be, but let me give your arguments a fair shake anyway, despite your foulmouthed rant.
Pull your head out of your ass and recognize that iPads are used in a LOT of industries as incredibly viable tools that increase productivity.
Erm like what? Bonus points if those tasks cannot be performed on a PC, laptop or Android tablet. Further, as I said it's good for grandmas and other folks, just not kids.
Furthermore, do you think, maybe, possibly, some of these kids might get excited about programming and decide, just possibly, to learn more about programming for iOS because of the iPads.
Ok lets see what a kid wanting to program on iOS needs to do.
1) Needs a relatively expensive Mac to even start. What chance is there that parents are going to buy one(if they don't have one) just because little Jimmy may want to dip their feet in programming, which may finally end up in nothing? Pretty close to zero. The cheapest Mac starts at $599 for a weak device on which Xcode lags. 2) Needs an Apple developer ID for which they need to be atleast 13 years ago and $99/yr subscription to test apps on their iOS device. Fat chance that many parents are going to get those for a kid who are known to get bored pretty quick.
You know, sorta like how all the old time geeks learned programming because of their piece of crap computers at their schools.
Seriously, pull your head out of your ass.
Steps taken by old time geeks:
1) Install any one of the hundred IDEs and/or runtimes and start typing.
Who has their "head up their ass" posting "dumbest bullshit" just because they outright worship a company?
Oh, I forgot there is no use arguing with folks like you because:
iPads are okay for grandmas, but giving them to kids is just mind numbing. With a real PC or even a netbook or a hybrid, atleast the kid can do more as get tired of Angry Birds. Not all will, but some will definitely venture out to programming and alternate OSes, even if only in a VM. Give them an iPad and it's nothing more than a glorified iPod Touch. Not to mention that the lack of a physical keyboard discourages thoughtful writing of even a few sentences and instead encourages texts-like writing. The Chromebook isn't much better either.
They need to realize that while certificates may have their place in some very specialized situations, they are not the ultimate solution that we so desperately need.
Certificates! Clearly the solution is to sign these old certificates with new certificates so that they become more secure.
They're free to play, which is mostly popular on iOS and Android as the following type:
The games where they grow and feed their pet for a month and suddenly if you don't buy the Bird Feed Gold in-game purchase for $20, the pet starts dying of starvation before their very eyes?
Then why is there no border between the ads and results? You do know that contrast perception decreases with age and that on some monitors you can't distinguish the last ad and the first organic result?
Here are two other mighty convenient examples where Google made "innocent" mistakes by vacuuming more data to track users intrusively and show them ads. Not sure if they're evil or just incompetent.
Here's an example of them being *both* very competent and evil.
Removing borders and decreasing contrast between ads and results to get more clicks and more money from advertisers and users, especially older people who can't see contrast well. I am sure they employ professional psychologists with PhDs whose sole objective is to increase ad clicks by using A/B testing, even if they user didn't intend to click ads, they must be making billions off these "optimizations".
Unlike Microsoft, they do have amazing PR though, with making lots of people believe the all the 'do no evil' BS, while slowly taking over the browser market by beating Mozilla to save money on ads.

A camera phone being similar to a point and a shoot is a good thing. Why compare it to DSLRs?
Since when is popularity the metric of good quality? By that metric OS X and Linux are very bad OSes.
Spoken like someone who think all camera tech is the same. It's not. Read the whitepaper http://i.nokia.com/blob/view/-/2723846/data/1/-/Lumia1020-whitepaper.pdf
Which phone camera has 6 lenses and physical image stabilization?

Not really sure why you think it's the same. There are a lot of eyes on the Cyanogen source; there are no eyes on Motorola's crap.
Can you quantify the number of eyes on CM? What does a "lot" exactly mean compared to "few" ?
Which at Apple's prices costs an arm and leg.
What's your take on this thread on Hacker News where the commenter tried to cast complete blame on Microsoft for this? Is he right?

Yea chromebook might not be much better, but i BET google would cut the school A LOT better deal then apple did.
That'd be because the Chromebooks aren't selling, but iPads are in great demand.

Also, do you turn on your camera while in the bathroom?
How do you know the camera is really on or off?
Or some malware background service or Apple/Google turned it on to record you?
Every game on the OUYA can be tried for free

We can talk about the mythical Apple TV with new console generation level graphics(which will make it expensive) when I see it.
