    Most modern servers are GHz+ boxes, and this worm saturated some 100 MBit links. So there is ample processing power and TCP/IP stack space to create connections. The worm might have not exploded so quickly, but that just means that it would have lingered longer.

    About half of the sources I've seen have been either .edu sites or sites in other countries which belong to colleges (ualberta.ca, etc.). Is there some sinister corellation here? Perhaps colleges get free MS-ware, and let the students run the networks?

    Except that the platters aren't any faster. The kind of connector you use is meaningless, if the disk can't feed you data faster. Give me a spinde which can kick 50MB/sec across the whole disk, and I'll start to care about the I/O it uses.

    All cars do this, when cold. It takes some time for the exhaust system to heat up to the point where the mixture of exhaust gases stays vapor all the way out the pipe.

    This is the classic looter stance - seize property in the name of the people, with the assumption that the sucker^H^H^H^H^H^Hproducers will keep producing.
    You know what? People won't produce under your system - they have no rights to the product of their own efforts. You contribute nothing to the equation except consuming their product. You need them. They don't need you.

    For someone claiming to be a guru, you missed the fact that BetBIOS ISN'T A PROTOCOL. It's an API. I think you meant NetBEUI, but its hard to say.
