    Windows.Net (next server version of Windows) will have a whole suite of command-line tools which would let you perform all system management tasks from the command prompt.

    Licesnsing is based on number of physical processors.

    MSFT has said licences are only for physical processors. It has no plans to change this.

    As the number of processors increase the bus becomes saturated and no matter what how many CPUs you add it doesn't increase performance.

    In most cases SQL Server's performance may be limitted more by your disk performance than the CPU's performance.

    Yes it does.
    They implemented some new AI technology form MS Research to figure out what is spam.
    Since junk mail for some people might not be junk mail for others the programs learns your preferences and adjusts itself as you keep using it.

    You are concentraing heavily on hardware performance. The hardware matters little if you write and configure your software properly.

    My website runs on Win2K Adv server with SQL Server on the same machine. Its a 4 proc 700 Mhz PC with a SCSI drive. When it was linked on slashdot. It never for once went down or stopped serving pages.

    unless you use this trick

    A friend's employer (sorry no names) sells computer mice here in US.
    They have contracted the manufacturing to a Chinese company.
    The total cost of the chinese contracter comes out to $1.00 per mouse.
    Stores in US sell it for $25.00/mouse.

    It is impossible for US companies to compete with Chinese economics
    without resorting to tariffs, sanctions or other trade barriers.
    Intel, AMD will have to use their political clout.

    Win2K terminal services like performance.
    and the ability to function without the need for a video card.

    I have used TightVNC (the enchanced VNC). It has very nice features.
    Even at the best compressions its performance pales in comparison to that offered by Win2K Termianl services and XP's Remote Desktop feature.

    I am on my third DVD drive on my laptop.
    Its a Torisan 8x DVD drive.
    Unfortunately I cannot use any other brand because no other brand fits into my laptop's drive caddy.

    That doesn't work across sites.
    You will have to register in every site.
    Browsers only remember username/password information per site.

    This is like Microsoft Passport.
    You register just once and use your the same username/password across sites.
