But, what about laptops and other portable devices? I actually USE mine while traveling, or sometimes sit in the park to do work and enjoy the weather. Will I have to go find a phone jack / net drop if I need to use excel for a few moments, but haven't needed it for two or three months?
This just has waaayyy to many problems. I don't see how any of these ideas could work, from an OEM or Microsoft POV. They only seem to work for certain instances -/some/ businesses, probably 50 - 60% of the average home users. If you look at the MS base, even 10% of users having problems will equal a large - and potentially expense - block.
about the people without credit cards? I have one, and only one, and never use it. I dislike instant credit, but many of my friends loved it to death, and now have no chane of getting a card for some time? How do they subscribe? What about people below the age of 18 (can't get a card) who want / need this software?
well, true. As soon as (insert one of the many games I own) is ported I'll quit dual booting. And SuSE is my preferred, thank you :).

Maybe you've had enough chocolate for one day George. I think it is time you called a taxi and went home.
but the little box knew me (and took me straight to a Hello, page). Cookies = tracking, so what's the difference?
