SGI is playing the game very well to steer clear of trouble. Their sudden move to Linux makes them(and their products) to remain supercomputing arena for years to come. Furthermore, they win a huge abount of good will and publicity from the open source community. Yes the move is extremely cool.
It is my personal opinion that, India will catch up Linux development in the near future. Don't expect it at US levels due to poverty. However, spreading Linux into universities with internet connections will result an exponential gowth of users, therefore lot of contributions to Free/OSS. Targeting universities with direct internet connections is the easy path. In the third world, M$ can't compete with Linux by any means because Linux is free on top of technical supiriority. So, when colleges in India realize that they get a technically supirior OS for nothing, Linux will spread like a wild fire weeding out micros~1. However, without easy internet access Indian contribution to Free/OSS will be minimal. Let's hope for the best.

It seems M$ want to take attention away from Corel(WP), Lotus etc. (Those who got killed by M$ aggression). I am sure Bois and the judge are sharp enough to understand this tomfoolery.
The idea is very very grand. Do we have alternatives to this plan. I don't think it is very vice to send a human colony for 7500 years(300 generations) floating in the space looking for a place to live(We are just 5000 years now). This colony will advance knowledge, technology etc and grow during the journy. Can we predetermine evolution of this colony over 7500 years. As an alternative, attempting superluminous travel is much more appealing than the space cylinder.
What is new with this test. Look at the date (30-June-1999). Did I miss something here?

This can be done in any Linux+Unix environment. (NIS+NFS or DCE) And, it was in Unix long before NT

They will dearly pay for this stupidity.
