For now, our company has been deploying Red Hat 7.3 with all the latest bugfixes and security releases patched in. However, 7.3 is ending its product life at the end of this year, so we may have to "rethink" our strategy with using Red Hat.
My own internal testing have shown that 7.3 is the most secure, but not stable, version of Red Hat (unmodified) out there. Specifically, in the jump from 7.3 to 8 and 9 the modified the IP header with a parity bit designed to set the hop count to +1. The 7.3 started with an even parity, the later version started with odd. Ordinairly you'd think it wouldn't make a difference (does a long trip start any different with the left or right foot?), but there is a bug in most Cisco code that assumes the even parity on initial hops. This can be exploited, granted mostly by internal users, but as such I can't recommend any version of Red Hat other than 7.3.
What I find exceptionally interesting, and so far the majority of the press (present company included) has neglected to mention it much, is Novell's claim that the continue to own the copyright to Word Perfect. True, we should see and open source WP on the near horizon, much to the benefit of the entire os community. However, what we would have is a case similar to where we are now - with potenital damages caused by the existing manifistation being traced back to the source, and the lawsuits ensue.
Preposterous? Not necessarily. Linus, and by parallel situation Corel and Novell, can liable in much the same way the gun ownership advocates find themselves in now. Consider:
Smith and Wesson manufacture a firearm. Bill shoots Greg with the firearm. Greg sues both Bill and S&W.
Novell owns WP. Productivity is lost by a later version of OS WP code. Company sues WP (nobody to sue, since it is open source) and Novell.
The same scenario can be applied to the Linux situation, with the proper parties to sue.
No, standard business practice for this sort of thing is to set up a watts/uline service whenever you have a "public" conference call with large number of users. Basically it's a flat rate, for either 1 or 500 users. The phone company eats the costs if the number gets too high, they are taking a gamble that the number won't grow much. In this case, there was a major mews story that broke just before and the phone company lost the gamble.
Seriously, that was the single most boring conference call I've ever had to listen to in my entire life. The usual stuff, most of it you've heard here already. What I did find interesting was the claim that Novell owns the copyright to Unix and, still, Word Perfect. We shall see, but it would be a startling new development if WP is now open sourced software. Makes me a little stiff in the pants almost. I'm glad to see that the movement is finally taking hold with backing from some major players. Finally we can cease being player haters.
I can tell that Bruce Jr. sure as hell won't be playing any Linux games when he gets older. He will have a Nintendo just like every other kid on the block. That Mario is a hoot.
Can I play Commander Keen on it? I'm really not interested if I can't play Commander Keen. That's all that matter. Keen rocks! What a spunky little fart, that kid!
Thank you very much... oh my god, this is so unexpected. Thank you! So many people that helped me get here today... first of all, I'd like to thank the Lord. Thanks, big guy!! And my mom and dad for all their support all these years... they've been with me right since Bruce.5 alpha. And all those losers at slashbot... if it weren't for that herd-like mentality, I wouldn't be writing this today! And a very special thank you... oh god, I promised I wouldn't cry... um, a very special thank you to Bill Gates, my inspiration and unintentional mentor. Bill, all this is because of you. Thank you! *sniff*
I've found the best way to fix my computer is to slap a sausage in it. In fact, that's the best way to fix EVERYTHING. Except my grandmother's broken hip, but we're over that incident now.

Another number you can use is 1-800-578-7458. You can use this number throughout the day to hear a recorded replay of the conference call.

Knock that shit off.

Beats me. I just got one myself.
