Wow ... You are just a tiny version of Trump aren't you? Nobody said "believe everything you read without question" and you know it. Trump is saying don't believe proveable facts, believe my easily proven lies, and the (unofficial) "5th branch" of government that is informing you what a lying dangerous self interested douche I am is THE ENEMY OF THE PEOPLE"! One wonders ... is it possible your mind is as tiny as his hands?

  2. F-Droid has been around for quite some time. You can use it so they haven't stopped you at all. Most consumers don't want to be bothered; they want and like the Play centralized repository. Sure Google takes a cut, but they provide added value and the insinuation to the contrary is disingenuous. Finally it is the OS not the apps that are open source so you are conflating two separate issues.

Thanks for being a voice of sanity. In a world where purported "geeks" think that spewing unthought out thoughts like ... "Oh, it's a "No true Scotsman fallacy" or "OMFG ... You are automagically wrong and have no justifiable position because ... 'ad hominem', which is a phrase I often see used here so I'm going to use it, and clearly spewing it must make me a card carrying geek" it is good to know that it isn't true that there are no (other) intelligent people here.

That is not correct. The Linux kernel supports over 30 hardware architectures so it is impossible to build it with most options enabled. Furthermore many options are suboptions. With over 1000 choices, many of which are mutually exclusive there is literally no way to build a Linux kernel with "most options enabled." Finally, most drivers are built as modules, which technically aren't "enabled" they way you are using the term unless they are loaded at runtime. Since you never built a kernel from source in your life (or you would know this) it is best to remain silent and be thought the fool you are than to open your mouth and remove all doubt as you have done.

  12. That's probably why a single kernel doesn't do all this shit. The source is there for all these features, but each kernel is customized with conditional compilation controlled by the .config file at build time.
