Replace DMCA with just about any law or action or whatever. It's pretty annoying when you see so much hatred coming from 'one side' to the 'other side' (where one side can be either side). The fact is, most Liberals or Conservatives, think pretty much the same way on most issues. Get used to it. Also, I hate the terminology used for this anyhow, Left or Right, Republican or Democrat? who the hell cares? and who always votes or thinks one way or another (besides radicals, which IMO are generally the real enemy)? The fact is, we're all individuals and we all think differently. Get used to it, and stop this blantant hate of whatever side you don't consider yourself on.

off the top of my head. What I do want to ahppen, is for there to be actual competition. That way MS will make choices that benefit the consumer.

Yes it will be harder for him to do things but this is irrelevant to freedom, this is people judging him. Which happens every fucking where so drop the BS.

Your relations with Saudi Arabia was put into question after 15/19 hijackers were from Saudi decent and you needed an alternative oil source. What better way to get oil then lie to the american people about Iraq creating "weapons of mass destruction" which were partially given to Iraq from your retarded government and help settle the scores the Bush's had with Iraq in the fact they lost the first Iraq war to yet another third world country (for those keeping count North Korea, Vietnam).

First, I don't think anyone in any power has misunderstood our relationship with saudia arabia.
What better way than lie? really.. this is all speculation and more BS. They haven't found WMD? do you know how hard they are to find. Look how long it took us to find Saddam and bin Laden. Give it awhile before you start claiming they lied.

Retarded governement.. really what government isn't retarded? Atleast I can say fuck you George bush and not get shot. Maybe get kicked out of where ever I am. But that's about it. Lost the first war?? how are you saying this? Umm because we stopped the invasion.. umm we didn't march on and dominate Iraq, we lost teh war? boy you have some interesting views of winning and losing.

The united states is no safer today than it was 3 years ago and until you arrogant people stop thinking your the almighty freedom country of the world, people will continue to despise you.

Maybe so, maybe not. it's a judgement call, and I don't consider us much safer. And I'm arrogant now? wow. Personally I say we pull out all our troops across the world and let everyone have at each other and die.(I'm being sarcastic). People will dispise us becase we're the most powerful and richest nation. End of Story. Just like people will, no matter how good willed, always dispise a politcian.

Your freedom is nothing more than a word. You always say your country is free but how free is it? Your freedoms are becoming less and less each day in the name of your own security.

Oh yes because, as I said before, I can still think whatever I want of the president and openly display that.. that's more free than half the world? Becoming less and less? what ? the patriot act? wow. The patriot act may be wrong but it's not exactly oppressing us or limiting us.

I laughed at your last presidential election because you call yourselves the "greatest democrasy" yet your voting process was full of scandle. Even Russia has a better voting system in place then the almighty freedom loving americans did.

we have scandals? no shit??? holy crap. guess what, everyplace does. To think it doesn't is being extemely ignorant. ANd not to mention the fact that was hardly a scandal. But I'm not going to convince anyone of that. Good for russia! Maybe we can learn from them. But I don't think your being unbiased.

Until the regime of Bush is over, there is no freedom, and standing behind your typical slogan of "we're fighting for your freedom", doesn't make the world safer, but adds more hatred towards your country.

Everything we do adds hatred. Just because we got the balls to do something we believe in. People hate us for lack of actiona nd people hate us for action. Our choice, do what we believe is right. Maybe we're not always correct but.. i don't see a better option.

You'll then want the entire world to feel your "pain" for a minor loss compared to the atrocities that happen around the world due to your foreign policies and then you'll want revenge and targe

You know, there's a difference that a lot of people seem to overlook. There's doing the right thing, which would be something that's morally tolerable. Then there's doing the legal thing, something that's legal. These two things overlap sometimes, especially in situations like these, where, loss of profit/items is not really tangible or calculable in any valid form. I don't consider downloading illegal mp3's right, nore do I really consider it wrong. I do definatly consider it illegal however. I also consider RIAA suing downloaders and i believe threatening to raise the settlement by 50k if the defendant so much as files paperwork, wrong. Not from a legal perspective, but from a moral perspective and even a buisness perspective. The fact is no one really knows how much piracy helps or hurts music. There are people, who would never buy something, but downloaded an mp3 loved it, then went out and bought it. I personally think I am more likely to do something like that. But then there's also plenty of people who would bye the cd, but won't now because they can have it free. where it all averages out to be, NO ONE knows. it's all guessing and speculation.

your comment "I guess they don't want the population to realize how inhumane their country's decisions are being" is what annoyed me. It, to a degree, implies that I, as a US citizen, don't have any idea what war means and that I am ignorantly supporting something that you claim is being inhumane. You also said that which is a good thing, at least we're not bindfolded and we don't all think that going to war for the slightest reason is good so now I'm ignorant and blindfolded. and you get modded up. And countless others get modded up for saying things that are far more unfounded and utter crap. But they go with the typical /. of american == bad or whatever.

any opinion diverging from yours sets you off and even innocent comments triggers a paranoid reaction from you i think if this statement was true at all, i'd have more than a 100 or so posts in the 3 years i've been a member here.

I guess my main objection is that the US is somehow queer in a number of senses. Yet, having listened to stuff like the BBC and been into canada a few times.. I have seen nothing to support this other than slightly different signs and names for things. The fact is, the US is rather normal. Just right now we're the richest(I think anyhow haven't seen any numbers for awhile) and most powerful so people jump on the anti-us wagon. Just like people do at every level of any sort of society i guess. And I also think the US has done, a much better job at being the most powerful and richest than any other country would do. But that's just a speculative opinion.

And tone what down? I made a sarcastic remark(in my original post in this thread), ig uess that was unecessary but that's what /. seems to imply a helluva lot. I stated a fact, a prediction, and an observation.

So what have we been doing? It takes time. It was March( I think) that we attacked Iraq, it's not even a year later. Look how long Osma has eben around after 9/11.

If the US government REALLY wanted to win the war on terror, spend 1/10 of it's war budget in Iraq on medicine to wipe out polio around the world, or tb or any one of the hundreds of preventable, curable child hood diseases that our children never get anymore but kill millions in the rest of the world every year (yes, Bono's idea and I agree). Balance and consider the interests of everyone, not just your own.

THis is treating the symptons and not fixing the problem. Iraq will have these things, when it is rebuilt and their system is put into operation for awhile.

Right now they just see the only superpower running around acting like a bully, then getting upset when someone strikes back or dares question why.

This really depends on who you ask. A CNN gallup poll, a while back, said that 62% of Iraqies(sp?) thought that what they have endured in the war, will be worth it 5 years down the line. I had it bookmarked but CNN has taken down the link. Funny how that works, something that doesn't seem to hint at trouble and/or conspiracy stuff, doesn't get as much attention.

They are very leery when the US speaks. Often because they espouse "freedom" and "democracy" on one hand, but support brutal dicators (remember Saddam in the 80's was our friend. Donald Rumsfeld thought so) or lock up people arbitrarily (as at Gitmo - an if they are all terrorists, shouldn't that be proven in a court of law?). So when you grow up with this and try to get out of your miserable life by joining a radical Islamic organization or the Shining Path or similar. Now, are you going to blame for all your troubles? Who's office buildings are you going to be willing to fly airplanes into?

I don't believe that this caused them to crash into buildings. I think that is what you call brainwashing, and being poor. And besides.. Terrorism is NOT limited to the US, to Europeans to first world countries, they seem to attack every damned where.
