This is because people who bash Microsoft are educated. People who praise Linux are educated. Educated people generally have something to say that is worth listening to.
People who bash Linux or praise Microsoft are not educated. If they were educated, they would not be doing such because they would have the necessary information to know better.
People who praise Microsoft are as dumb as the guy who thinks that alternaters in all cars crap out every 60000 miles just because he had a car like that once.
Now this is the type of guy who makes us all look bad. You know nothing about diplomacy or the business world. You're the type of person who won't amount to anything worth any value simply because you have no common sense.
Don't bother replying telling me how much money you make or how many things you've bought in your 'successful' little world. You have a small mind and I don't wish to speak with you.

And I have a vette. The lady loves it. I don't have to get more babes. Two reasons. One) I already have one. Two) My wife is bi and she gets them for us.
Guys, it doesn't matter what you 'think' of the definitions of open source or free software. Look them up!

Why bother yapping about what you think? Noone cares what you 'think'. If I told you that in My Opinion benevolent means to be angry all the time, would you care? No. The definition does not change based on what anyone thinks.
The Mercedes point was that stealing is wrong. If someone owns something, they are free to charge what they like for it. If you don't like it, don't buy it.
Stealing is stealing - and it's wrong.
I'm sure that all of you who proclaim that the world owes you a living are either:
a) Kids
or
b) Unsuccessful and bitter.
Do you think a computer consultant is worth $220 an hour?
Some companies charge that anyway - regardless of what you think.
The only valid arguement that we, the consumer, can make is that the record companies hold a monopoly and hold back competition. This is difficult to do though, since artists sign on with one record company. Kind of hard to have competition if only one company can legally sell the music. Ironic isn't it?
To justify yourselves by saying things like 'well, they still have a copy too', is immature and shows a lack of respect and education.
The kids will eventually grow up. That's not a problem. 20 bucks is lots of money to everyone at one point. The rest of you are simple thieves.
The products you listed are no more free than IE is free. You PAY for it when you BUY the OS. Do you think that the M$ developers that work on those products work for nothing? You BUY their products and M$ pays it's developers. It most certainly is not free.
First of all, NT is at best run on Departmental servers. Enterprise servers are the likes of Compaq AlphaServer ES40s and GS80/140s.
The intel platform doesn't hold a candle to Enterprise servers.
He also knows nothing about Linux. Seeing Linux focused on the server market seems to be quite striking news to this guy.
Since when is posting useful information 'Spamming'? Now if he was posting this info on a Bingo hall's bulletin board perhaps, but posting computer related information in an IS shop really doesn't constitute spamming.
Personally, I don't really care what OS I see used at my customer's sites. I do, however, like to see working computers. Linux does the job.
Well, if that's true, then why don't you post something that proves it? I've never even seen an idle NT box stay up for 6 months let alone on that's actually working.
I understand your love, but lying about NT won't make Linux go away. Just ask Bill.
If every man who lied under oath about wether he cheated on his wife or now was charged with perjury there would be 100 times more perjury cases before the courts. Normally people are not charged with obstruction of justice or perjury when they lie about things like that.
Just look at the DOJ vs. Microsloth case. If everyone who lied on the stand was charged with perjury, then they'd just escort the Microsloth execs out the side door instead of letting them walk out the back. They're all lying. Most of them are proven liars when they get up to go. None are charged.
The only reason Clinton was charged with anything is because of the public outcry.
Bunch of American Whiners. I'm Canadian. About a year ago, our Prime Minister decked some guy who got in his face at a public gathering of some kind. We applauded. Good for the Prime Minister and good for the loser.
That's why Canadians rock and Americans are sissies. That's why we kicked your butts in the war of 1812.
Have a good one. And next time your President gets a little on the side - shut the heck up. He's running a country you know.
We need more software for Linux and I applaud everyone who releases software for Linux wether it's commercial or free. Right now Linux is like the Reform Party in Canada. Nice idea but too many radicals.
Why is it that NT people are always taking things that *NIX can do, which NT can't do and saying 'boy is that inefficient', or 'boy is that complicated'?
That makes no sense to me. You're taking a feature that you can't do at all on your NT box and complaining about it on *NIX. If *NIX is to complex for you, read a computer book or just stick with NT. If you want to be a good administrator, you need to know more than which button to press. You should know why you're pushing the button.
Obviously 3D support is not here yet for X. Of course, Linux wasn't here a few years ago. Linux is usable now and more and more people will use it. As more people use it, more companies will start to produce binary linux kernel modules to support their proprietary hardware.
It will happen. It's happening already. Creative, who use 3Dfx, nVida (among other) graphic chipsets have hired a guy (I forget his name) to write Linux drivers for _all_ of their products (sound and video).
Those who want to use NT, go ahead and use it. Those who choose to use Linux, use it. Those who seriously think that NT is in some way superior to _any_ *NIX should get educated. It's not a debate. It's a fact. *NIX is far superior to NT as far as OSes go. Anyone who says otherwise is just yapping and has no facts to back up their words simply because none exist. If you don't believe me, then you have never been to post-secondary school.:-)
I don't think I'll ever understand you I've-never-seen-the-outdoors--gee-maybe-I-should-w ipe-off-my-monitor-today jerk offs who think to criticize absolutely everything everyone else does. Shut up you geeks. Talk about intraverts. Get some human friends and learn how to interact with the rest of us. But most of all, quit your constant bickering at folks from outside our community. The linux community is awaiting acceptance of the rest of the world with open arms. If you can't help that's fine but quit hurting the effort.
Good article Jon. Sorry about the annoying people.

Get Educated. Then get Linux.

hehehehehehehehehehehehe...
Hahahahahahaha... ice hockey.. and what else?
Astroturf Football?
Field Baseball?
Court Basketball?
Grass Soccer?
Ice hockey.... heh...
It's called 'Hockey'. And yes, it's played on a sheet of ice. Fun game.

"(DIVX) died because DVD proponents were effectively able to educate the populace about..."
. .
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAHAAAAAAA.
Educate the populace.... hehehehehehehehe...
Sure... then maybe we'll get Beta's and Mac's back... then people will only buy reliable automobiles and quit getting mad in traffic.
Oh, and then all the thieves will stop stealing...
Educate the populace... hahahahaha....
Ohhhh, my tummy....

Here's a quote from SPI:
"The Open Source trademark is managed by Eric Raymond on behalf of the free software community. "
That's taken from the "trademarks" section of their web site.

Wrong.
Websters says that irregardless is a misuse of the word regardless and stems from combining the words irrespective and regardless.
So while the word is in the dictonary, the dictionary states that it is an incorrect usage of another word.
