'to public a song/book/work' means to 'make it public'!
Once it is public you can not claim it back and/or ask money for it.
Pretend to make money out of something which is public has been the dogma of many smart arses since the middle age, but if u really look at it, it make no sense at all!
If artists want to get money out of their work, they should just do that: work!
