UG/NX is also for Linux and Mac. The Linux version is only said to be supported on Suse Linux, but I think with some tweaking you should manage to run it on any Linux flavor. All though the Mac and Linux versions doesn't look as polished as the Windows version, both Mac and Linux versions are full featured UG/NX software.

But AFAIK Symbian^3 uses Qt as UI toolkit, and the new Nokia N8 will use Symbian^3. Isn't that a "serious go of it"? If the name is the only thing it has in common with the desktop toolkit, I'm not the right person to answer.
Local impact. Even if the Amazon river discharge a lot of fresh water in Brazil doesn't mean discharging fresh water some place in Norway have no impact on the local eco-system!

The first computers was as big as supercomputers are today. Today these computers would fit inside a peanut.
