  1. mucho strange on Oracle To Sell Sun's Hardware Business To HP? · · Score: 1

This is mucho strange. Why would HP want to support a competing platform when it can just sit back and watch it die. Perhaps to get to Sun customer base, or to get hold of hardware patents etc. If so will SPARC come with Solaris ? HPUX for SPARC ?

As per Wikipedia the latest PA-RISC processor was released in 2005 ?. thatâ(TM)s like 400 years ago.....
    hmm interesting rumor.

    @ WindBourne,

Bravo, what an argument ?. Might as well categorize all the legally working Chinese, or Indians as terrorists. They also send money back to economies which are a direct threat to the U.S.
Now what does this statement means?
"That prevents us from automating. If the wages were higher, then companies would automate faster, which would put more pressure on our energy matrix which would probably lead to more uptake of nukes and AE.".

How in the hell does a poor illegal immigrant effect the nuclear policy of the U.S ?

The primary question is, and must always be of intent. They law differentiates between manslaughter and premeditated murder. Why should it be not applied in this case. The intent of an illegal alien is to live ( a nice life ) , and not to destroy.

Now coming to the issue of them hurting the economy. It takes two to tango. The corrupt merchants who hire and then abuse these illegal aliens are equally to blame. They are also hurting the economy as much as these aliens. Classify them as terrorists also .

Remove these illegal aliens from Kalifornia, and see if people do not complain about a $20 car wash, or packing their own groceries at the mall.

    @ Susano

    here we go again.

"False citizens pretending to be true citizens, in order to benefit from the privileges enjoyed by true citizens, to the detriment of true citizens."

What services do these poor illegal immigrants get, which they are not already paid for with their hard labor. do they even have healthcare ?.

Indeed "scum of the earth" is my term, uttered in true disgust at the seemingly high moral ground the commentator took while categorizing illegal immigrants. What has happened to humanity? Who gave us the right to categorize improvised people as murderers and butchers.

Such broad strokes/categorization is reminiscent of the steps taken by dictatorial regimes to justify draconian laws. One size does/will/never fit all.

Does this make sense in this context ?. If you are using window or OS X, you are already tied to the service packs these companies provide. For day to day use, it is somewhat true for linux also. I do not always tinker with all the glitches in all the applications I run. I usually wait for it to be fixed.(usually by the creator/maintainer of the source ).

    I totally agree.
Access to internet is a service and rest assured the big telecom companies will leave no opportunity to milk you dry.
There was a time when nicely done website was equivalent to a Wall Street address.
Small companies were competing against big companies and customer service was what separated the good from the bad.
Now the cyber space will be the same as real world. it will be a two-tiered service providing system where the big service providers (and i mean all sorts of services)
be no different than wall mart or starbucks.
How long will I keep on trying to give business to ordinaryjoe (ironically ordinaryjoe.com is for sale by owner for $3,224,159.94).
if it will take a minute to load its home page.

Call me a conspiracy theorist, but it seems that the governments are too eager to "control" access to the internet.
The best thing about internet is that We are all exposed to "the other side of the story" and our governments cannot
make mockery out of our laws by telling lies upon lies upon lies.

State media is worthless now and no one believes what is being reported. Also for the first time I think, there is now a certain level of news accountability. Every "fact" if not verified can be investigated thoroughly using global and perhaps independant sources.

Hence the traditional models of governance like "politics of fear" ( oh something bad will happen if you don't support this government; the bad guys are coming to get you) are inadequate now.

Reviewing the traumatic time of the past 5-8 years, from 9-11 to plans to attack iraq, the global protests against wars, Aljazeera war reporting etc, I think The governments are scared shitless that such massive source of information available to the masses. War in Iraq would have left a different image in an American mind if Fox was the only news org reporting it.

In the near future, OS will become meaningless. Ordinary Joe is not interested in running windows/linux.
He needs to do the work quickly and efficiently.
(Ever noticed the blank look on your (non geek) friend face when you passionately debate linux vs windows. ).

Big companies are in a rush to provide services on the web. "Pay as you utilise" model seems to work.
Whoever will serve the user faster and
easier will get his/her dollars. Plus the added advantage of advertising revenue.

I think that Dell + Google is a very stretegic move in enabling windows (XP, Vista) users to utilise google services. In addition, it may be a bit of "do now or die" thing also.
M$ has the advantage of desktop real estate. If vista locks the user down with native msn searching capabilities, + windows live services + who knows what else, what will google do. Also, do you even like the google toolbar. It is "uglicious". I much prefer the ease of firefox google search box.
Other than searching, what other services do google offer which are generating revenue. take the searching advantage from google and see how fragile it looks.

Web based services will rule the next decade, and unfortunately it seems that m$ may take a big chunk of revenue.

my exact 2 cents worth (canadian!!!! no less).
