I recently went through this. I was looking at going back for a MS in Technical Management through a work sponsored program. After working closely with some of the managers in my group, I decided that it just wasn't for me. As for a technical MS, decide what you want to do. In electrical engineering there are some fields that you can barely follow a conversation in if you only have a BS. I know that was the case for me. So I decided to get my MS. For what I did, antenna/radar design, it makes a big difference. Most of the people I worked with had an MS or PhD. A lot of the new hires who were BS holders were working towards their MS at night. Some of the engineers went and got their MBA and moved onto management. It just wasn't for me.

The bottom line : Love what you do!

It sucks to feel like you waisted two or three years of your life one something that you don't use. The good thing is that education can often be ported from one area to another without it becoming totally worthless. At least that's true for engineering.

When the rates that the LECs could charge CLECs were first announced, the CLECs couldn't make a buck of off a subscriber then. Now that most of the carriers are gone, what do the LECs do, they jack up prices. Standard monopolistic practices. Why am I not supprised.

From looking at the insturments descriptions from the satellite's web page there seem to be two or three groups of intsturments.

    1. Spectrometers - These are good for checking atmospheric content and content of the surface below. This is useful to see how much ozone is where, or if there is a lot of chemical x in the ocean, ground, or atmosphere. There is also a radar there to measure the water vapor in the atmosphere. This is useful to metorologists.

    2. Mapping - The SAR (Synthetic Aperture Radar) can make 3-d topographic maps of the earth.

    3. Support - There is a laser altimeter and Radio Alitmeter used for ranging to further enhance the measurements from the first two categories.

Katz must have better eyesight than I do b/c I had to remind myself in several scenes that it was CG. I was a little hard on it at first, but the CG got a lot better from there. The lips were pretty scynched, I thought. The story is decent.

I just finished my BS in Electrical Engineering at Texas A&M. From talking with my friends and recruiters, CEs that focus on hardware have a wider variety of jobs to choose from. If you don't want to code 24/7 then look at going into CE and emphasizing on hardware. You will still end up coding in some form or another, but you will have the oportunity for more variety in your life. CEs and EEs are expected to know how to code and many companies hire them for that as well. My personal bias is twards hardware. You also will have a better base if you decide to change majors to another engineering discipline. You will already have the basic engineering classes and won't loose as many hours.
