I've done this with VNC. Both of you have a "personal" cursor that's just a dot. When one of you move your cursor, the real cursor moves. When both of you move your cursor, the real cursor jumps around a bit, but the personal cursors still works nicely. I don't think you get separate colored cursors, but this works for me, at least.:)
Hey mister, you forgot a couple of details in the letter of yours!
If I, as a student, were to buy 3d-programs, math-programs, compilers, office-packages etc. Do you have any idea at all how much that would amount to? I wouldn't be able to afford it in a lifetime!
As I see it, there are two ways of solving this: 1. I support open source, by using and contributing, and I get more value back than I put into it. 2. I choose the commercial way, and don't put as much into it, and don't get as much back. (Alternatively 3: I choose the way of pirating, which implies that I don't intend to earn money on software later - if I have some degree of consistancy and integrity)
Which seems to be the most reasonable alternative?
Open source don't seem like such a "timewasting" alternative to me.
If NASA really wants to convince the "crackpots", I belive they should create a separate organization, specializing in informing people about "the truth". It may seem unimportant to inform "crackpots", but isn't it so that every democracy is based on enlighted individuals? Where I live, in Norway, there are some goverment-driven places where one can get neutral info about i.e. mushrooms or certain law-issues. Perhaps a parallel to this could be a good idea for NASA as well?
