..which was intentionally programmed and not emergent game play. If someone was hurt by their own rocket, their velocity was scaled much higher than if someone else was hit.
And as such, don't release your code under the license. If you can't stand the idea of people making money using something you worked on.. well.. doesn't that break the idea of code sharing? In addition, doesn't the GPL allow that anyway?
Of course, all those totally unhappy couples who stay together for the children but never do a thing together, never show any affection, and get in fights they don't think the children see or understand are great in comparision for the children. Yeah. Right.
Okay, I just read this thread and it was entirely hollywood bashing. This has its place, but I think people tend to take this way too far.
Numerous brits I have talked with felt that she pulled the accent off extremely well. That doen't mean flawless, but I have a feeling if they had some unknown british actress people assumed was from the US, the same complaint might be made.
I understand how you feel.. I was a californian until recently, and trust me.. hollywood doesn't do that accent right either!;)
As for this character specificly, well, she was almost by definition a charicature. She is a movie character based on a character in a bloody game!
Eh. I have no opinion, honestly.
I just moved up to Seattle from California. Doing a lot of grocery shopping, I noticed something. You know how they have black plastic or something over porn mags in stores? Look for the latest issue of Cosmopoliton. It has it too... because the woman on the cover is too sexualized. Hmm.. Last time I checked, Cosmo wasn't a game mag.;)
We don't know the details of the deal at all. This could be very similar to a typical publication deal. Still, thats a lot of capitol for a game to get, and knowing MS, they are going to follow through unless Shiny messes something up (which is better than what you get with most developers)
Okay, if my memory serves me, the idea is that Shiny is going to be developing this game. It makes comes out on the Xbox, then on the PC 6 months later. It has some exclusive to the Xbox content.
Now, what is microsoft funding game development a bad thing? I swear that people are just hunting for a reason to bash MS (oh, wait, this is slashdot..) Anyway, MS is taking the risk out of game developement for a company. This could easily translate into a much better game and a company that has a better shot at surviving.
Most users do not program.
Most don't create files outside of programs they use.
My average user is someone who uses a computer for a specific, well defined reason. I know many people who have had a computer for years, who use it several times a week, and who don't know anythign about how the computer works or what compiling is. They don't care to know. They want the computer it do what they bought it to do -- run programs. I would guess that would be something like 95% of the users our there.
Okay.. I think we have a HUGE definition problem.
Your _average_ user does not use the command prompt unless tech support is walking them through something.
Your average user doesn't care if their 'special settings' are stored in the registry, in a text file, on a microsoft mainframe, or in a bit of banana someone jammed in. As long as their programs work, they are happy.
And like it or not, they do work most of the time. Not working generally is because of lack of maintainence, and lack of knowledge about how to maintain a computer... remember, there are still a lot of users out there who hit the power button to turn their computer off without shutting down.
You name isn't.. jack is it?
Jack.. Chick..?
Pardon the suggestion, but thats how you come across when you make your point like that. I really wanted to read what you said as sarcasm or parody, but I just can't quite see it in what you write.
I was raised in a christian home. My siblings are very christian, though i am not. They played Magic as much as I did.
If your point is that people get addicted to things, yes, I agree. People can definitely be 'addicted' to almost anything. Or so the current social trends say. Certain levels of intrest in a single topic can pretty much always be considered unhealthy, but this is not a religious issue. This is an issue of balancing ones life.
Religion can be just as addicting as anything else from what I have seen. While it isn't socially isolating in the same way that vices are, it can be just as harmful...
Stores didn't want to deal with the price differenes? Easy answer!
The Black Box (evil) comes with a 5 dollar mail in rebate. Then, THEY can play good or evil and decide which rebates to honor!
The White box has that 5 dollars to to charities.
(guy who has been ripped off on too many mail in rebates)
3 cheers!
He is by far one of the funniest comedians I have seen. Try taking a look at his San Francisco show if you are american, as some of his other stuff might be 'too british' in reference to follow for some.
... because everyone else is home watching the shows instead of at work at 9pm Thursday evening or 9am Sunday morning!

.. that was suppose to be in reply to 'Eddie Izzard is God', just to correct the context.
