I always withhold my number, and Demon Internet always answer.
Mind you, this is the level of service I expect for my 10 ukPounds a month. I still think my net access is worth paying for.
Incidently, reason I withhold my number is that years ago I had been on the net all night, and about an hour after I disconnected, the phone went. I picked it up (at 4am!), and realised I was being called by a computer. Freaked me out so bad at the time I have always from that point withheld my number, although I'm old and wise enough now to realise it was probably a misdialled fax-call:-)
My girlfriend looks on gazingly as I'm checking out the latest vulnerabilities! Thinks my security job is the coolest thing...
In fact, most people I meet here in Scotland think anti-cracking is a great job. It's just a case of dropping the geek persona, and tell 'em how much you surf the "underground" looking for news.
I remember when Demon Internet actually changed their main site to "demon.net", and was suitably impressed at the time: it seemed like some order was being restored to the jungle that is DNS. I realise now this was a complete waste of time, and even when we get.banc.shop.pr0n etc. nothing will change either! I'm still holding out for.sukkas! which I expect will be transferred to Mr T;-)
What's new is that they never actually used this to advertise their applications before! Next up we'll have headlines like "MS Team up with BO2K to offer full home-working systems"
.... meant to mean "supplier of network infrastructure" i.e. ISPs and the like? Another stoopid hijacking of names, which just leads to more confusion. *sigh*
It's been about 7 years since I went near Postscript.... and the only reason was to program flashy interfaces using the Hyperlook GUI developer, by the Turin Institute. Damn near broke my poor Scottish drink-soaked brain! I mean reverse-stack notation for gods sake?! It was enough to turn me into the l337 consultant I am today mind you;-)
I remember paying 100 quid for a second hand 4MB SIMM for my am*ga back in the dark old days. You kiddies don't know the half of it! [disclaimer: just ignore this, it's my first post and I had to get it out of my system]
128kb is pathetic no matter how you go about getting it.
... a sizeable city by anyone's standards :-)
:-)
You, my friend, should try living here in Scotland. I praise the Sun god "Ra" every day that I get connected at 49333!
This isn't somewhere in the Highlands either, it's Glasgow
Anyway: it's Friday night. I should be out chasing "burdz"

I'll second that.

No, the servers will be 0wn3d by some 13 year-old k1dd1e!

Knowing the big MS, it probably means *anyone* can use your computer from anywhere in the world!

You try looking at a core dump on a Unisys 2200/500 mainframe .... probably gets dumped onto 17 tapes across 10 EMC Storage Silos ;-)
You actually look at core dumps ?! That is almost as bad as my old boss making me program in Postscript ....
